I work with children and adolescents, to help support them through challenges they encounter while growing up and discovering their unique identity. I also helps parents manage the inevitable difficulties that come with raising children in today’s world. I emphasize the importance of trust and comfort in the therapeutic relationship, and use this relationship to help promote client growth.
I am particularly interested in helping parents to develop new ways of interacting with their children, in order to address both emotional and behavioural difficulties; using play-based therapy with young children for whom traditional talk therapy is not possible or inappropriate; and working with youth who have experienced trauma and/or abuse.
I adopt a client-centered approach to my work with all clients, with an emphasis on understanding the environmental and developmental context that has led each person to where they are. I believe that therapy is not a “one-size-fits- all” solution, and that each individual’s unique strengths and resources will determine the appropriate treatment.
