Hello! I'm Alejs, pronounced 'Alex'. My areas of focus are: LGBTQIA+ issues. Trauma & C-PTSD (adverse childhood experiences, sexualized violence, religious trauma). Non-normative relationships & lifestyles. 1st gen. & immigrant Canadians. Deep thinkers who want to explore their emotions but don't know where to start. My genuine warmth, humour and curiosity play a big role in my counselling approach. It’s important to me that my clients feel well-supported when digging into difficult material. My goal is to support you in transforming your relationship to dynamics and/or parts of yourself where you feel stuck or lost.
My experiential approach is informed by emergent neuroscience on memory reconsolidation. I have specialized training in Brainspotting, EMDR, Coherence Therapy, Somatic-Attachment and am IFS-informed. These approaches offer creative and evidence-based ways to process distress related to trauma and living in a world not built for most of us to thrive.
Reaching out is a great step towards nurturing & transforming your relationship with yourself and your communities. Counselling can help guide you towards a deeper, embodied sense of confidence and agency in your life. It is common for the process to feel vulnerable and uncomfortable; I will meet you at whatever stage you are at in your personal process.
