Sometimes the challenges we face in our daily lives become too difficult to manage alone. We may need someone to talk to who can help us find solutions. Whether you are facing the challenges of raising children; struggling with intimate relationships; exploring issues of sexual orientation or gender identity; experiencing difficulties with life transitions (parenthood, blended families, grief & loss or caring for an aging family member) counselling can help. Research studies and personal testimony support how effective counselling can be. With 15+ years of clinical experience, I can help tailor a therapy program designed to meet your personal counselling needs.

My practice is focused on providing comprehensive psychological, psycho-educational, and Adhd assessments for children, adolescents, and adults. What particularly captivated me towards working in the area of ADHD and learning disabilities is when I was trying to find strategies raising my own child. Therefore, my knowledge is based on personal and professional experience. Living with someone that has ADHD and learning disabilities helps you to gain a much deeper understanding what a person is going through. The best antidote to under-diagnosis and over-diagnosis is an appropriate evaluation.

I think everyone should have a therapist. I realize how self-serving that sounds, but if we see a medical doctor on a regular basis (yes, you should do that too!) for our physical health, why wouldn’t we have someone in our pocket for mental health as well? If there is a stigma around mental health, there is stigma of having a therapist as well. I regularly meet with people that have never accessed a mental health professional and after one session you can see the anxiety leave them as I help take away those social pressures and instead focus on you, that’s what I want, to be team YOU!

Have you ever felt stress in your life that outweighed your internal resources to cope? I think we all have at some point in our lives, and it can be overwhelming! For this reason, it is often helpful to seek support, learn new coping strategies, and talk about whatever is bothering us in a safe and judgment-free environment.

Have you ever had moments where your past becomes present? Do big feelings sometimes make it difficult to manage and live in the way you would like to? Trauma can sometimes make us feel stuck and although we might try, it can be really difficult to overcome some deeper problems on our own. Sometimes we develop coping mechanisms that effective to a point - are not great long term solutions (substance use, overworking, perfectionism etc). If you are ready for new, healthy and lasting solutions to your problems, Psychology can help you to get back to yourself - or learn to recreate an improved version of yourself.

I have a passion for working with people who are struggling with intense emotions and difficulties regulating their emotions. As a single parent of two teenage daughters, I understand that life can be overwhelming sometimes; the demands of kids, work, bills, and relationships eventually catches up with all of us. Using the principles of Mindfulness, and Cognitive and Dialectical Behavioural Therapies, I support people in learning new effective and healthy coping skills to replace old, less effective ways of being.

😷COVID-19 Special Announcement 😷A black swan is defined as an unpredictable event that typically comes with extreme consequences. The advent of antibiotic resistant superbugs have been predicted for decades; however, many can't help but feel sleepless, helpless, anxious and/or stressed since coronavirus has struck. Despite a higher mortality rate than your average seasonal flu, fear is more contagious than the virus itself. Since greed & fear are the biggest common drivers of social behaviours, stigma & ignorance are the greatest threats to social stability. Coronavirus’ economic impact may be greater than its public health risks.

I believe in personalizing and customizing treatments plans to meet the needs of the individual client, rather than trying to fit all clients into one or two psychotherapy modes. I work in partnership with clients to assist them in prioritizing and exploring their issues, in a safe, positive, environment. Treatment plans are flexible, evolving with the needs of the individual person. Appointment times and dates are also very flexible, with evening appointments available as needed.

Are you feeling overwhelmed? Do you feel stuck or are struggling, either personally or professionally? Do you want to move forward but don't know how? Whether you've experienced a one time event or a series of longer term challenges, you deserve care and support as these difficulties can accumulate and keep us from living the life we want. Every person is unique and your specific needs will determine our approach, all within a safe, secure and non-judgmental environment. To that end, I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is based on acceptance and empathy and is essential to client change.

Alcohol Use Counsellors
Alcoholism, or alcohol dependence, is the most severe form of alcohol use. It is a chronic disease characterized by the consumption of alcohol at a level that interferes with physical and mental health and with family and social responsibilities. An alcoholic will continue to drink despite serious health, family, or legal problems.

If you're looking for help with alcohol abuse in Calgary or for a Calgary alcohol abuse counsellor, these professionals provide confidential support for alcohol abuse or for individuals and couples in a relationship where alcohol is a disruptive factor. They include Calgary alcohol abuse therapists, alcohol abuse psychologists and Calgary alcohol abuse counsellors. They can help with alcoholics in Calgary, drug alcohol abuse, teenage alcohol abuse, substance and alcohol abuse and treatments for alcohol abuse in Calgary. counsellors can identify the signs and causes of alcohol abuse, discuss intervention and refer victims to alcohol abuse treatment centres. A counsellor may also discuss 12 step programs in Calgary or joining AA ( Calgary Alcoholics Anonymous).

Alcohol abuse causes problems for the family and loved ones of alcoholics--they may also need help and support, which these Calgary counsellors can provide.
