Any individual who wants to work towards change in their life or who wants to understand their current experience in the context of their history is someone I want to work with. Together we can establish and reach many possibilities. If you have experienced trauma in your history we may explore hypnosis and EMDR as treatment possibilities.

Trauma is a word that no one likes to hear, let alone experience. It comes in different forms: childhood, domestic violence, sexual assault, injury, our job, along with additional experiences that may come up. Facing trauma alone can be overwhelming, scary, and painful. This can cause additional physical health problems that can interfere with daily activities. You may experience nightmares, as if you are reliving the event. You may not want to leave your house for fear of it happening again. Knowing and understanding that therapy can take time and effort, I am committed to working alongside you through your healing journey.

***EVENINGS AND WEEKENDS AVAILABLE *** I work with individuals who are struggling with a wide range of concerns. Many find it challenging to identify and regulate their emotions. They often act impulsively and struggle to maintain consistency in their day-to-day life. Many of the individuals I work with find interpersonal relationships challenging and may even vacillate between pushing people away and clinging to people. It is not uncommon for clients to currently be or to have previously engaged in self-harm and/or suicide ideation.

Hello! I am a Registered Psychologist and I am passionate about working with teens and adults who have experienced trauma, sports related concerns, and challenges in life, and helping them to overcome the impacts of these challenges. I believe the relationships and experiences in our lives influence our development and belief systems and inform the way we interact with our environment and the people in it. Understanding the impacts of experiences clients have had allows me to appreciate their journey while creating safety in a therapeutic relationship.

Have you ever felt stress in your life that outweighed your internal resources to cope? I think we all have at some point in our lives, and it can be overwhelming! For this reason, it is often helpful to seek support, learn new coping strategies, and talk about whatever is bothering us in a safe and judgment-free environment.

What type of mental health professional is right for me?
Some of the most common types of mental health providers in Alberta are psychologists, licensed counselors, therapists, psychotherapists, and licensed clinical social workers, all of whom diagnose mental health conditions and provide individualized treatment.

Services offered, education and credentials vary by type of mental health professional. Each professional in Alberta then may specialize in certain areas, such as depression, marriage counseling, or anxiety. Although many mental health providers are not licensed to prescribe medication, they may coordinate with a provider who can.

Both in-person and online therapy sessions are available from most psychologists.

How to find a specialist?
You can refine your search using the filters on this page. There are several categories you can filter by to find mental health professionals with the experience you are looking for. You may want to filter for CBT Psychologists in Alberta, or Child Psychologists in Alberta.

Many find it useful to use filters to view only psychologists that have experience working with certain issues, like Alberta psychologists specializing in EMDR.

What method of therapy is right for me?
When it comes to treatment methods, there's no 'right way.’ Each method of therapy can be beneficial for a variety of issues. Psychologists in Alberta specialize in therapeutic approaches such as CBT, EMDR, and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), among others. Finding a psychologist or therapist who is a good fit for you is the most important step to discovering what type of therapy, or combination of therapeutic approaches, will meet your individual needs. Learn what to expect from different types of therapy and how they work.

How to use my insurance?
Many therapists accept health insurance. Check to see if your insurance is covered. Feel free to discuss this when you contact the therapist.
