I’ve been a Social Worker for over 34 years. I have worked with individuals in Adult & Child Protection, psychiatric units, and emergency departments. I have a passion in working with individuals living with mental illness and addictions. I have also worked with youth in complex cases and crisis situations. I have counselled adults and children in homeless shelters and youth involved in human trafficking. I have counselled individuals who are involved with Correction Services of Canada on parole, while they resided in half way house. In my clinical work, I conduct focused, short-term psychotherapy that are customized for each individual client's needs. Client-therapist collaboration is emphasized and a supportive therapeutic environment is provided. I favour the use of approaches which help clients to understand, control and integrate their own thoughts, feelings and behaviours. In my forensic work, I adopt a combined approach in which both clinical and actuarial methods are used for achieving accurate and thorough evaluation. Every attempt is made to integrate scientific findings with professional judgement in addressing psycho-legal issues.

Dr. Papazoglou recently completed his postdoctoral appointment at Yale University School of Medicine. He completed his doctoral degree (PhD) in psychology as Vanier Scholar at the University of Toronto (U of T). He completed his doctoral clinical training at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (psychological trauma clinic; sexual behaviours clinic). Dr. Papazoglou is a former Police Major of the Hellenic Police Force and European Police College, and he holds a master’s degree in applied psychology from New York University (NYU) as Onassis Scholar. His research focuses on stress, trauma, and resilience.
