It can be challenging for a child or teenager (heck, even us adults!) to process what's going on in their head and all the physical sensations they feel in their body. Children and teens often have a hard time expressing and understanding what they are feeling; like why their stomach hurts, why they are having trouble sleeping, why they are sad all the time, or why they don’t feel like they are good enough. This inability to process can lead to acting out, emotional dysregulation, physical ailments, and more. Children and teens need to be heard and provided the skills to cope with their life circumstances to feel better again.
I support children and teens with emotional regulation, limiting beliefs, self-esteem, stress-management, coping skills, social-emotional awareness, and I provide psycho-education around healthy relationships and healthy habits. I also work directly with parents to help them navigate and strengthen their relationship with their child(ren) or teen(s).
I work with thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and body sensations. I am a Child and Youth Care Counselor (CYC) and a member of the Ontario Association of Child and Youth Care (OACYC). I offer individual and family counselling. I also teach social/emotional/life skills, effective communication methods, and conflict resolution.
