I believe that you hold the key and it is my job to act as the guide in holding space and supporting you through your journey.
Feeling like you’re at a standstill in life? Everyone has a story to tell and you deserve to be heard, validated, believed and supported. As a psychotherapist, I make it my priority to provide a safe space to help you pinpoint where you are stuck and guide you in working through your struggles. This can range from sorting out life changes from careers to relationships and managing secondary symptoms, such as depression and anxiety. You will measure that growth has taken place through an increased propensity towards self awareness as well as conscious focus towards behaviours, thoughts and beliefs.

In this process, I act as a guide to help you tap into your own healing wisdom.
While psychological therapy can address some deep and painful issues, it doesn't need to be all about pain and suffering. In fact, it is often more about understanding yourself and others differently. It is about learning how to cope with challenging situations such as relationship dissatisfaction, uncertainty over the future, transitioning from one situation to another, handling strong emotions like fear, loss, or anger, and healing pains from the past. These universal experiences can be overwhelming. I can help you navigate them more smoothly and set yourself up for success on the other side of it.

At any given point, you have the power to change the story of your life and I am here to support you in this goal of regaining self-awareness, acceptance, and control so that you can re-write a more positive, well-balanced, and holistic script to lead a more fulfilling life.
I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. My passion for supporting people in their healing journey is rooted in a massive stigma around mental health, which I experienced while growing up in Pakistan. I have worked towards raising awareness about maternal and children health issues, pregnancy stress, postpartum depression, and respectful parenting. I provide compassionate, people-centered, and strength-based support to help people cope with anxiety, depression, childhood trauma and PTSD, stress, relationship and family issues, grief, etc.

I help professionals and other high achievers conquer their fear of failure and overcome feelings of inadequacy. You face another day feeling low and burnt out. You work tirelessly to make others happy and to prove that you’re worthy and lovable. But no matter what you do or how hard you work, you never quite feel good enough. You’re not sure what you can do to shake these feelings of self-doubt and finally feel content. You just wish you could break free from your loud inner-critic and fear of negative judgment. You lack self-acceptance, have a hard time being self-compassionate, and struggle to feel confident.

I then provide proven, evidence-based tools to help clients achieve amazing breakthroughs in their understanding, trust, acceptance, strength, and ability to overcome obstacles.
I count it a privilege to support clients facing mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, grief, stress, career counselling, life transitions, substance use, low self-esteem, or trauma. To accomplish this, I encourage clients to ask...and answer...the WHY question. WHY am I feeling anxious? WHY can’t I make relationships work? WHY can’t I get out of this funk? WHY are my thoughts so scattered? WHY do I have trust issues? WHY I am unhappy? WHY do I allow others to treat me this way? WHY do I abuse drugs, food, or alcohol? WHY do I have trouble loving myself? WHY am I so afraid of being vulnerable?

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
