At Wholeness Psychology Centre, we work with a variety of concerns, including
trauma
, depression, anxiety, addictions, identity crisis, and relationship conflict. We recognize that short-term, solution-focused modalities are appropriate for some presenting concerns. For others, a more heart-centred, holistic, depth-oriented approach to therapy is necessary. Our team has the skills and training in both areas to best meet your therapeutic needs and goals. Our approach is multifaceted and involves working with several layers simultaneously and getting to the core of your experience and needs in assessments and counselling.

trauma
and I offer EMDR and other proven modalities to treat the client. I have also worked with addictions, and mental health issues such as anxiety disorders and depression. I have worked extensively with many diverse populations such as Aboriginal people, and many other ethnicities.

I love working with
trauma
and have specialized experience with first responders. I get how it changes the way you think, feel and act so can work with emotional dysregulation and behavioural issues too. Addiction is common, and so often a way to cope, and it's the underlying issues I love to nurture and heal. At times, I work with people struggling in relationships, sometimes with themselves, or as they adjust to relationship change or loss. Other times I support people as they life navigate transitions, such as employment changes, navigating pregnancy and parenthood, or coming to terms with health issues, and/or effects of aging.

You deserve to feel like yourself again. You may feel lost and not know where to begin. Other times you may know what you “should” be doing to get better but feel like you get in your own way. Either way, support is available. I enjoy working with anxiety, depression,
trauma
/
PTSD
, chronic health concerns, OCD, burnout, and perfectionism. I also have special passion for working with women who are pregnant or are adjusting to life with a baby (including postpartum anxiety and depression). In addition, I have specialized training and experience with first responder populations.

My passion lies with individuals, processing
trauma
, as well as with children, youth and preteens.
I am honoured to support people in finding their path to healing. I believe that we have our own capacity to move through difficult times and know that taking this step can be pretty tricky. My approach is gentle and fairly eclectic, I tend to use the modality that best suits the clients needs with an attachment based lens. I tend to focus on play therapy and emotion focused therapies with children as well as utilize some dyad work. With adults I tend to use EMDR,
trauma
processing, solution focused therapy, person centred and emotion focussed therapy modalities. I offer a free 15 minute consultation to ensure I am the right fit.

This is accomplished by healing childhood
trauma
and current-life difficulties.
I believe people experience psychological/emotional suffering because they are not able to relate deeply enough to certain aspects of themselves. This disconnection causes "symptoms" and pain. Depression and anxiety are the most common, but they can further develop into problems with identity, addictions, anger, suicidal feelings, despair, problems in relationships, personality disorders etc. To relieve suffering and to further ones personal development, a deeper connection with self is needed. The clients I usually work with are people who feel thwarted in their attempts to be happy, have satisfying relationships, achieve success.

Many of us have experienced adversity in our lives, including myself. Whether it is
trauma
, chronic pain/illness, racial discrimination or struggles, grief and loss, or depression/anxiety, these experiences often leave us feeling mentally, physically, and emotionally drained. My experiences have taught me that each person experiences adversity differently, and therefore, requires a unique approach for their unique experiential reality. Moreover, I believe that every person has the desire, capacity, and ability to heal and experience growth.

When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
