That "tight chest" feeling doesn't have to be your baseline. You're likely tired of overthinking every conversation before you've even left the room, wondering if you said too much or not enough. Whether it's the weight of perfectionism at work or the quiet distance in your marriage, living in a state of "constant alert" is exhausting. In our work together, we’ll look at the different parts of your life that feel stuck—the parts that want to please everyone & the parts that feel lonely even when you’re not alone. We’ll move past just "talking about" the problems and start untangling the patterns that keep you from moving forward.

Deciding to talk to someone about your deepest and inner thoughts can be scary. You are making a decision to embark on a journey to help understand what your experiences mean to you. When we talk about our emotions, it is one step closer to healing within. The way we express ourselves can be different for everyone, and I provide a space that is safe and accepting for you to be you.

When you enter therapy, the answer enters with you. It just takes the right strategic approach because the problem is the path to the solution. The greatest version of yourself is always available, and strategic pyschological direction will help get you there. If your unfulfilled potential keeps nagging at you, I'm more than happy to help you break ceilings to reach the next level.

At Wholeness Psychology Centre, we work with a variety of concerns, including trauma, depression, anxiety, addictions, identity crisis, and relationship conflict. We recognize that short-term, solution-focused modalities are appropriate for some presenting concerns. For others, a more heart-centred, holistic, depth-oriented approach to therapy is necessary. Our team has the skills and training in both areas to best meet your therapeutic needs and goals. Our approach is multifaceted and involves working with several layers simultaneously and getting to the core of your experience and needs in assessments and counselling.

Stephanie have extensive training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Hypnotherapy, and am a Certified Play Therapist.
I work with children, teens, adults and whole family units. For children I can offer play therapy, sand tray work, and art therapy. These approaches help children to feel safe, which means they are more likely to engage in change. For teens, I provide a place where they can talk and explore. Whether a teen wants to use expressive art, unload their day, or have a deep dialogue about all the problems they face, I bring years of compassionate experience. I also know though that structure, communication and life planning is important. For adults, I offer experience, knowledge and clear supports.

Men, are you exhausted all the time but struggle to sleep? You try to relax but it just never works and you end up snapping at family/friends? No motivation, leading to procrastination. “What’s wrong with me?” you might ask yourself. "I don’t even feel like myself anymore". Dreading to go to work. Even hobbies or hanging out with friends doesn't bring much joy. Everything just seems so draining! You feel overwhelmed, not good enough, and irritable. Feeling lost and stuck because nothing you try seems to work. You want someone that "gets it" and can help you generate some practical solutions for your relationships, work, and life.

My main goal is to provide a warm, accepting and nurturing environment in which my clients can explore their vulnerable parts and grow from them. Often our life circumstances, or even those of our parents and grand-parents, have led us to mistaken beliefs about ourselves, our worth, and our place in life. When we examine these beliefs in a realistic and compassionate manner, we find ways to change that we never believed were possible for us. I have witnessed many such changes over the years, and I believe that a full and happy life is possible for all of us.

I use CBT, EMDR, Hypnotherapy, Insight, Mindfulness, Body- centered and Psychodynamic therapies.
Often times in life we can experience personal challenges. These challenges can include losses and trauma. They can leave us feeling anxious or depressed. Counselling can help one make sense of what they have been through. Times of struggle and loss can force us to look inward to re evaluate what has meaning for us and perhaps find out what is our purpose. I have experience working with CAF, First Responders and Vets, as well as people who have experienced childhood trauma. Whatever the challenge we can work together to help you heal and come into wholeness.

HypnoTherapy
How does hypnotherapy work?
Hypnotherapy works by using guided hypnosis to help you reach a state of focus and concentration through mental imagery and soothing verbal repetition. The state is somewhat like being absorbed in a book, a movie, or your own thoughts. You are not under a therapist’s “control,” but they can help you relax and turn your attention inward to discover the resources to achieve behavior change or better manage psychological concerns. Therapy sessions may involve guiding you through recognizing a problem, releasing problematic thoughts about it, and considering and accepting more productive alternatives before returning to normal awareness. Hypnotherapy is typically used by a therapist along with traditional forms of talk therapy. Eventually, your therapist can help you learn hypnotherapy techniques yourself so you can establish a stronger sense of control on your own in stressful or challenging moments.

Is hypnotherapy the same as hypnosis?
Hypnotherapy, which is sometimes called hypnotic suggestion, is a therapeutic technique in which a therapist uses hypnosis to help patients. It is not the kind of hypnosis portrayed in stage shows, or in movies or on television. You will not be unconscious or asleep during hypnotherapy, you will not lose control of yourself, your thoughts, or your free will, and you will be able to fully recall your experience. And while you will hear your therapist’s suggestions, it is always up to you to decide whether to act on them. Hypnosis by a trained mental-health professional is not a form of mind control, which is impossible to achieve anyway.

Can everyone be hypnotized?
The most common challenge of hypnotherapy is that as many as one in four people cannot be hypnotized. Brain imaging has confirmed differences in patterns of brain connectivity between those who respond to hypnotism and those who do not. Other people who could potentially be hypnotized may not respond to the technique because of their skepticism or resistance to entering a hypnotic state. If a therapist’s “post-hypnotic suggestion” is effective, it’s because they are suggesting something you want to achieve.

Does hypnotherapy work?
Through hypnotherapy, you can achieve changes that are real and sustainable. Like other talk therapy techniques, when hypnotherapy succeeds, it’s a case of mind over matter. Effective hypnotherapy involves self-healing because you access resources you need to change inside of yourself and learn how to tap into them whenever you need. Hypnotherapy has been shown to be an effective therapy for anxiety, phobias, stress, panic attacks, post-traumatic stress disorder, sexual dysfunction, and undesirable behaviors like smoking. It can be used to help improve sleep or to address relationship challenges, and to aid with pain management, digestive disorders, skin conditions, and the gastrointestinal side effects of pregnancy or chemotherapy.
