People tend to walk through life without slowing down enough to reflect on their lives and the decisions that they have made. Often people put one foot in front of the other and later realize that they are truly unhappy with how life has been going.Through therapy we will spend time finding out the root cause of what challenges are preventing true happiness. This process will help you understand how your challenges originated and help you learn to construct a new foundation.

I am a Registered Psychologist currently accepting new clients for counselling and psychological assessment services. I am registered in both Alberta and British Columbia. In my counselling practice, I believe that self-awareness and self-understanding are fundamental for empowerment and change. I endeavor to apply a collaborative approach with each client in order to build a shared understanding of themselves and the concerns that they bring to each session. I recognize that understanding in itself does not always result in the desired change, and work to address barriers to client goals using trauma-informed interventions.

I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, emotional overwhelm, trauma, relationship difficulties, and substance use concerns.
I also work with people exploring identity, including queer and LGBTQ+ experiences, questions around gender, race, and culture, and the weight of feeling like your life does not fit neatly into dominant expectations. A lot of my clients are men, queer people, and folks whose inner lives are more complex than a checklist.

I enjoy working with individuals open to delving in to their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. I often see people struggling with negative or irrational thought patterns that can create emotional distress as well as challenges in relationships. The process of therapy may improve emotional regulation and positive behaviour changes resulting in overall increased life satisfaction.

I specialize in trauma therapy and substance use counselling, offering support for those who are navigating the effects of past trauma or struggling with substance use.
Therapy for people who are tired of pretending they're "fine!" You don’t need to have it all figured out to be here. If you’re navigating life experiences that have left you feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in survival mode - welcome. Many of the people I work with are high-functioning on the outside and quietly exhausted on the inside. Therapy doesn’t require the right words, a clear plan, or knowing where to start. You can show up guarded, unsure, skeptical, hopeful, or all of the above. Come as you are.

Helping couples break painful patterns and rebuild connection! Relationships can feel exhausting when you keep having the same arguments, feel disconnected, or aren’t sure how to move forward together. You may be navigating conflict, mental load imbalance, life transitions, or a loss of intimacy. Many of the couples I work with are also impacted by addiction and are looking to rebuild trust and connection. Using a trauma-informed, attachment-based approach, I help you understand the patterns you’re stuck in—often shaped by past experiences—and support you in creating more secure, connected ways of relating.

Substance Use Counsellors
How do substance and drug recovery or rehabilitation programs work?
In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other clients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals reside at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counsellors, and psychotherapists. Staff often also includes people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other methods.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?
Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for substance use reduce the amount of drugs they consume. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.

Are there specific medications for substance and drug use?
There are medications approved to treat substance use disorder—such as buprenorphine, methadone, naltrexone, and acamprosate. These medications do help people cope with substance use as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone can help reduce cravings, methadone is an opioid medication used to treat severe pain, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.
