I work with adults to manage unpleasant emotions and thoughts; improve sleep; develop decision making and problem solving skills; deal with imposter syndrome; and cope with life transitions (i.e., becoming a parent/caregiver, changing job/career, moving to a new place, retirement, relationship challenges).
Since 2012, telephone and video sessions have been an integral part of my practice, enabling me to provide my services throughout Alberta. My style is warm and engaging, and I create a safe and positive environment for you to explore your challenges. I really enjoy working with creative people: makers, designers, and thinkers.

My clients are thoughtful, self-aware people who often feel anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck repeating patterns they can’t seem to shift. They’ve tried managing on their own but want deeper, lasting change—more calm, confidence, and ease in daily life. Many come to me when they’re truly ready to let go of old habits, fears, or self-doubt. Through clinical hypnotherapy, we work to calm the mind, regulate the nervous system, and reprogram subconscious patterns so you can move forward feeling lighter, clearer, and more at peace.

I believe we all have internal strengths and resources to work through life's challenges. Sometimes we lose sight of these strengths, sometimes there are gaps in our skills set, or perhaps there are blind spots in how we view a problem situation. My role is to help clients explore, discover and understand themselves and to help clients learn new skills and strategies to address the presenting concern.

Supporting others begins with the presence of a safe, inclusive space of openness and acceptance that facilitates a client’s innate yearning for healing, growth, and self actualization. My own journey has led me to the joy, mystery, and wonder of self discovery, the healing experience of healthy relationships, and finding meaning and purpose in life. The enjoyment in my work as a therapist comes from guiding clients on their journey to discover what brings them joy and to help them reconnect to their inner resources – their strengths, wholeness, peace, deeper nature, and internal guidance and wisdom.

How effective is treatment for insomnia?
The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.

Are there specific medications for sleep problems?
There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.

Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?
There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.

What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?
Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
