Something in your life isn't working the way you want it to, and you can't quite put your finger on why. You're trying, but focus slips, emotions feel harder to manage, or motivation just isn't there. Maybe you're a student hitting a wall, a professional running on empty, someone at a career crossroads, a parent supporting a neurodivergent child, or navigating a diagnosis that reframed everything. Whatever brought you here, you've probably already tried pushing through. What you're looking for now is someone who can help you understand why things feel this hard and actually do something about it. That's exactly where I come in.

I am especially interested in chronic pain/health issues, anxiety, depression, relationships (including wanting a relationship you don't have), self-esteem, empowerment, intuition, and spiritual connection.
I deeply believe that the body knows what needs to be healed and holds the keys to that healing. Our systems, however, are so good at keeping us safe that we often can't access those keys alone. I use a range of tools to facilitate that healing, including conversation, meditation, visualization, mindfulness, IFS, AEDP, and sometimes energy work depending on the individual I am working with. I aim to be feminist, trauma-informed, and anti-oppressive, which means the client is always the expert on their own experience. We work collaboratively using a range of tools to find the right path forward for you.

Anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem often show up when you've been carrying too much for too long.
If you’re exhausted from holding everything together, feeling lost, or fed up with your own patterns, I see you. And no, you’re not broken. You’re human. You’ve probably had to survive more than you’ve ever said out loud. Working with me is like having a steady older sister in your corner: someone who’s warm, real, and won’t let you bullshit yourself into staying small. We’ll dig into the parts of you that are overwhelmed, shut down, or protecting you a little too hard. We’ll get honest, get brave, and make room for the version of you that isn’t running on fear, guilt, or generational family bullshit.

I may be a good fit for you if you struggle with anxiety, depression, perfectionism, unresolved anger, self-criticism, self-destructive behaviours, or have a history of childhood maltreatment. I believe that shame and self-criticism are at the root of many mental health concerns and self-destructive habits. Often these habits are our best attempts at soothing or numbing the underlying pain. I don’t focus on diagnosis, but rather I invite you to reconnect with emotions that may have been dismissed, ignored, or too painful to allow yourself to feel.

Therapy can help in the following ways: Building self-confidence, improving relationships, managing stress, reducing anxiety, and achieving goals.
It takes courage to reach out for help when facing conflicts, loss, and a barrage of negative thoughts. It is within a safe, warm, caring relationship where you feel seen and heard that you can get your life back on track. It may seem hard to believe right now, but things will get better. I believe in you and your ability to effectively cope with the challenges that you face. I integrate a number of therapeutic modalities adapted to your unique personality and circumstances to help you connect with your true self ( EMDR, CBT, SE, parts & psychodynamic).

Self Esteem Counsellors
When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?
When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?
Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?
Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?
Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
