Feeling stuck? Over it? Ready to focus on wellness and well-being in your life? If you are looking for a safe, compassionate, accepting space to explore historical and present day troubles and concerns this could be it. I have had the honour of accompanying people on their journey to wellness for over 30 years, and am always inspired by the strength and resilience of the human spirit. My work has taken me to a number of different settings, including residential treatment centers for behavioural and emotional difficulties in children and addictions in young adults, First Nations communities, schools and private practice.

Hi! I work with individuals of all ages and their families. My approach to therapy is relational, meaning that I prioritize developing a strong working relationship with you to assist and guide you as you work toward your desired outcomes. I incorporate aspects of feminist and narrative therapies, through which we can explore how personal and cultural narratives may influence your mental health and well-being. I have lived experience of disability and have a passion for working with others who face navigating a world that is not designed for them, including those with physical, sensory, neurological, and developmental disabilities.

I have been helping men and women make changes in their lives for the past twenty-six years. The people I work with are often dealing with anger, aggression, depression, anxiety, trauma and different forms of acting out (e.g., gambling, addictions, etc.). I provide a safe space to explore what the problem might be and different strategies for resolving problems. Many of my clients are survivors of childhood trauma and are dealing with abuse in their adult lives. I have significant experience working in a cross-cultural context, particularly with First Nations people, Lesbian women and gay men.

Anxiety. Pain. Fear. Mistrust. Anger. Crisis. They're real, and they can dominate your life. Struggle becomes a constant weight, relationships become strained, confusion reigns, hope seems distant. I know and understand those feelings. And I know that change is possible. My goal is help you work towards that change, to turn patterns of self-destruction into self-realization. I can help your need for peace and happiness become a greater reality, so that you may find a new life of trust and purpose and reconnect in enhanced relationships with self, family, God, and community.

I practice counselling from a strength-based, client-centre perspective. I honor clients' experiences and together we form collaborative relationships to identify healthy coping, and solution-oriented pathways towards clients' goals. I also utilize Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to identify maladaptive, intrusive thoughts to form adaptive self-concepts. Furthermore, I thoughtfully incorporate Eye Movement Desentization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to work with traumatic life events and emotionally freedom techniques to ground and process strong emotions. I am trained in Play Therapy to work with children and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) to work with couples. I am also Pride certified to work with sexual and gender minority individuals.

Humor, genuine compassion and empathy are necessary for healing - especially the humor part! Which is why they are benchmarks of my clinical practice. Combined together, the healing force created is a 'game changer' in people's lives. My approach to psychotherapy is person centered (congrats, you are unique! Your therapy should be too), grounded in attachment theory (relationships are our friend! Don't argue...everyone needs a friend) and developmental psychology (we all go through life changes, change suucks, but it's unavoidable). All this guides our path to wellness. Heads up - standard credential speech ahead...

Many times, people struggle with issues but are not sure what to do about them. Is counselling the right approach? Psychotherapy? Coaching? Maybe just coffee with a trusted friend seems like the best solution at times, but maybe you're not feeling sure about that either. What I usually recommend for people experiencing challenges but who are uncertain about what to do is to book a consultation session to talk about what's going on and some options or recommendations for what to do about it. Sometimes one consultation session is enough. Three-session consultations also are available for working through issues in more detail.

Therapy is an opportunity to find ways to live a more fulfilling and satisfying life. It helps in overcoming difficult symptoms or stresses, cope effectively with problems or bring positives into your life when things are going well. I work with people struggling in their family relationships, or those in high distress from loss, grief & trauma, or people trying to cope with eating disorders, anxiety, depression, or emotional pain. In my work with individuals I have learned that working from a broad base of theories and techniques is best integrated in the therapeutic work.
