I specialize in psychodynamic therapy from an Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) framework.
Finding lasting relief from difficulties like depression, anxiety, trauma, or medically unexplained physical symptoms (e.g., IBS, tension headaches, or pain) can be difficult. Perhaps you have been trying to address your issues via coping skills, self-help books, or by accessing various health care providers. If you continually feel stuck, are in pain, or are confused about why your symptoms aren’t improving, you might be ready to look into the underlying emotional factors contributing to your symptoms. Together, we can understand and address the roots of your problems so that you can stop suffering and start living.

Psychological interventions are a way to understand, and change problematic behaviours and relationships that impede a person's development. I see the maladaptive patterns that people become embroiled in as knots, and psychotherapy as a way for people to untie the emotional knots they find themselves in. My approach is psychodynamic in orientation which means how to fundamentally change the negative patterns we continually make across multiple relationships. My particular skill is in working with and helping you to understand the emotional relationships people engage in and how these can have negative and positive consequences

You are valuable and worthy. Each individual has their unique journey of personal growth and an innate capacity to derive meaning from life’s challenges. From an existential perspective, I believe that individuals have an intrinsic desire to find purpose and meaning which enables them to optimize their potential for self-actualization. My aim is to create a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental environment for you to self-explore and find self-insight/meaning. I use a client-centered integrative approach to meet you where you are and work collaboratively with you to flexibly address your life concerns.

It can help to process all you have been through to make sense of it and to find peace. I have 20 years of counselling experience and I have a compassionate approach to working with clients.

I am a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist https://psychodynamiccanada.
Sometimes our thoughts and feelings become unmanageable without help. Anxiety, stress and depression are just some of the ways our mind tells us that something isn't right, or the ways we've coped in the past aren't quite working as well as they did. Change can be unsettling and distressing, but it can also be healing, fulfilling and hopeful. I provide a therapeutic space that is safe, warm and engaging where you can engage in your process, at whatever pace you need.

I use psychodynamic and CBT to promote self-awareness, healing, and growth.
I believe many problems and symptoms can arise when there are emotions or aspects of life we are avoiding, numbing out, or pushing away. Perhaps it seems like what you are facing has exceeded your resources, or certain issues have been present for a while but are now too difficult. Or the world is overwhelming and you feel misunderstood by others. Therapy is a journey of self-discovery in which you develop a deeper understanding of yourself and reflect on your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. We will work together to identify patterns and find new ways of being. It is never too late to begin the work to reach your potential.

I am trained to work from a psychodynamic perspective, which means that we focus on how past troubles affect current functioning and emotional development.
Do you find yourself stuck in a pattern and don't know how to change? Do you find that your relationships are not working, or depression and anxiety are getting in the way of living a happy, healthy life? I see therapy as a way to answer the questions of "Why?" "Why do I make the choices I do?" "Why does this keep happening to me?"

I work primarily from an integrative psychodynamic perspective, complemented by my additional training in emotion-focused, existential, and interpersonal therapies.
I work with clients who are experiencing depression, anxiety, interpersonal/relationship difficulties, adjustment issues, personality disorders, and struggles with meaning, self-actualization, and career. I focus on helping clients better understand how past experiences, avoided emotions, and interpersonal patterns may be contributing to and maintaining their distress and suffering. Through building awareness in the context of a non-judgmental and unconditionally accepting therapeutic relationship, clients are able to develop more flexible and adaptive ways of coping, learn new ways of relating to others in their lives, develop skills, and experience deeper connection, acceptance, and respect for themselves and their emotions.

Psychodynamic Counsellors
Psychodynamic therapy in Edmonton, also known as insight-oriented therapy, evolved from Freudian psychoanalysis. Like adherents of psychoanalysis, psychodynamic therapists believe that bringing the unconscious into conscious awareness promotes insight and resolves conflict. But psychodynamic therapy is briefer and less intensive than psychoanalysis and also focuses on the relationship between the therapist and the client, as a way to learn about how the client relates to everyone in their life.
