Are you struggling and feel like you have nobody you can turn to? There are many things that can make us feel isolated or afraid to seek help. Shame, trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, feeling burdened by pressures and expectations. These can be overwhelming, confusing, and scary experiences. There is no easy way to unravel the complexities of the pain we feel or the pressures we face in our lives. But I want to be there to help you figure things out.

I have experience and training in polyamory and stay updated with current courses, and I’ve taken courses on gender-affirming medical and surgical treatments.
I take a holistic approach to wellness, both personally and professionally. A disturbance in any area of wellness can have a ripple effect, so it's helpful to consider how your physical, social, occupational, spiritual, sexual and eco-wellness are affecting your mental wellness. I can include art therapy or reiki. I’m a Reiki Master Teacher.

Creating a space of safety, authenticity and openness is at the centre of my approach to counselling. Clients see me for my strength-based perspective and collaborative process where they are the expert of their life. My clients are often adolescents and adults who are looking for help with navigating relational trauma, C-PTSD, anxiety, neurodivergence, relationships, gender, sexuality and nonmonogamy.

Reaching out takes courage - whether it’s your first time seeking support or you’ve walked this path before. We all find ways to manage the chaos of life, and the familiar patterns that once guided or protected us can now feel limiting in how we want to be in the present. You may have learned to give a lot to others, strive to do everything "right", or carry the weight of expectations, leaving little room for your own rest and care. Therapy offers a steady space to embrace your inner world, honour your story, and explore new ways of being - both within yourself and in your relationships.

At Family Counselling Centres we recognize that therapy cannot be a one size fits all approach. Every individual is unique in how they respond to therapy. Accordingly, we utilize play therapy, animal assisted (horse and dog) therapy, EMDR, art therapy, filial therapy, sand play therapy, and traditional psychotherapy to provide clients with comprehensive care. We treat children, teens, adults, and families using both traditional and non-traditional therapies. We believe that people can live up to their full potential if a nurturing environment is available-- this is why we put such a strong focus on the family.

Connection isn’t just about relationships with others — it’s about feeling steady in yourself, secure in your body, and clear about what you want. I work with folks exploring intimacy, identity, and emotional healing, especially around sex and relationships. Maybe you’ve felt shut down, stuck in people-pleasing, or caught in patterns that don’t feel like you — like using sex to numb, seeking validation, or avoiding closeness. You’re not broken. These are coping strategies that once made sense. In therapy, we’ll meet those parts with care, not shame, and support you in moving toward deeper authenticity, safety, and connection.

I work with adults experiencing a range of issues including grief, depression, anxiety, emotion regulation issues, life changes and transitions, cancer diagnoses, disordered eating, chronic pain, trauma, perfectionism, procrastination, and self worth or esteem issues. I like to start with a complete initial general assessment to deep dive in getting to understand you, and from there, we co-create a treatment plan with goals of what we want to address together. My availability is limited to only being able to connect once every 3-8 weeks, but I am available long term as needed. I give extra resources to review/try between sessions.

Dealing with life's challenges and stresses can be incredibly overwhelming. During those times, it’s common to rely on coping strategies that can lead to negative outcomes such as low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, relationship problems, difficulty adapting to life's changes, anger issues, or substance abuse. For over 35 years, I have helped individuals, couples, and families overcome personal and relationship challenges. When you work with me, you'll find a compassionate listener who genuinely strives to understand your unique experiences and situation. I offer in-office and remote therapy services.

If you are hoping to find an experienced, highly skilled, and ethical psychologist who brings a practical perspective into sessions (along with a dash of sarcasm and dark humour), then your search might be over! While I provide time/space for you to explore your experiences, I am also directive to help you gain traction in your life in a timely manner. The majority of my training has been in cognitive behavioral therapies (i.e. CBT and REBT). I also have training in Emotion-Focused Therapy, EMDR, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, and CBT for Insomnia (CBT-I). I select treatments based on what will be most helpful for you.

I want you to know that you can feel better. The effects of patterns like depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and people-pleasing don’t need to rob you of a life lived well. Soul-sucking patterns like these gobble up your time, money, physical energy, thoughts, and the ability to focus on yourself. Life feels hard in this place. The good news is that pain is motivating! You've likely tried a bunch of things to feel better, but now your inner wisdom is whispering to you to find outside help for the inside pain, and here you are. If this resonates with you, I'd love to work together!

You’re living with the impact of anxiety that won’t settle, trauma that keeps showing up in patterns, or relationship cycles that leave you feeling stuck and disconnected. You may be tired of just getting through it and ready to understand what’s underneath so real change can happen over time. I offer a grounded, compassionate space where the messy parts are welcome—without judgment. Using EMDR and the Gottman Method, I support you in working through trauma, shifting long-standing patterns, and building more safety and connection in yourself and your relationships. This is deeper, paced work—not quick fixes, but lasting change.

Open Relationships Non-Monogamy Counsellors
Why might an individual want to see a therapist specialising in open relationships and consensual non-monogamy?
A client seeking help with an open or consensually non-monogamous relationship will prefer to talk with a professional whom they can count on to be nonjudgmental. Talking with a supportive therapist may on its own help relieve some of the stigma and challenges partners face. That said, the most important factor in the success of any type of therapy is the ability of the client and practitioner to form a strong, trusting bond. For this reason, an individual or couple could find success with a therapist who does not specialise in non-monogamous relationships but with whom they can build trust.

When should open or consensually non-monogamous partners seek counselling?
Like other couples, polyamorous partners typically seek counseling when they face relationship challenges they can’t solve themselves. In non-monogamous relationships, this could include breaches of trust, including infidelity; unclear rules or violations of boundaries; jealousy of outside partners; the stress of juggling the needs of multiple partners; or the effect of high partner turnover on children. Like those of other couples, polyamorous bonds can be threatened by increasingly frequent arguments, poor or dysfunctional communication, diminished emotional or physical intimacy, or the feeling that something is wrong, even if they don’t know what it is.

Do therapists have special training to gain expertise in open relationships and consensual non-monogamy?
No, but individuals seeking help with non-monogamous relationships would most likely consult a licensed professional with specific training in couples counseling or couples therapy. Couples counselling and couples therapy both involve teaching concrete strategies to navigate conflict in relationships. A good therapist can engage both partners as they explain these approaches but can also work with a single partner.

How long does therapy for consensually non-monogamous couples typically last?
Couples therapy for any type of couple, tends to be relatively time-limited, lasting around 12 weeks on average. A good therapist will tailor sessions to the individual partners’ emotions and sometimes their past, along with patterns found to be repeating in the relationship. In many cases, clients should expect their therapist to assign “homework” between weekly sessions.
