He draws upon reliable therapies including CBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, and mindfulness .
Good psychologists devote ample time to listening to and helping their clients. No one should have to feel like they are making an elevator pitch when they see their therapist. I offer longer sessions which allow for deeper discussions and help that is personalized to your lived experience, strengths, and culture. My approach is calming, caring, insightful, and creative, and I'm also trained to discuss topics that some psychologists don't have the comfort or cultural knowledge to address. Together, let's start building a way forward free from struggle with negative emotions and towards a more meaningful and fulfilling life!

I have a Masters' degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Alberta and I have completed extensive training in mindfulness and body-centered therapies.
I work with children, teens, adults and couples facing life transitions, coping problems or mental health concerns. Depression and anxiety is very common, but I also work with loss, health concerns and family problems.Therapy is about change, but it is not about changing who we are. The person we are meant to be has been here all along. Sometimes we need help to reconnect. I work with my clients to explore patterns of behavior and thought that can keep us in small and narrow places, and to reconnect to our wiser, balanced and more joyful self.

Many people struggle with confidence and are unable to fulfill their goals for relationships, work, and personal fulfillment. Understanding how your core values and beliefs impact aspects of your life such as work, relationships, and overall fulfillment can give you the power to overcome these struggles. Through learning to accept and love yourself fully you can move past shame that is likely impacting how you feel and behave. Through awareness of your power to change the meaning you give to events within your childhood, you can become free from limiting beliefs.

As a Certified Hakomi Therapist, I use mindfulness as a tool to uncover unconscious core material that keep us "stuck" in life.
Individually, I work with clients that present anxiety, depression, infidelity, divorce/separation, workplace stress, and dysfunctional family dynamics. I would help provide clarity for clients so they can take appropriate action to solve/heal the problem. For couples, I focus on the relationship that I witness in the room. My goals is to re-establish intimacy for my clients by taking them through a journey of risk taking and vulnerability; thereby, creating a strong dependent relationship as well as strong independent individuals.

My approach promotes well-being on multiple levels and includes somatic therapy, EMDR, hypnosis, mindfulness , as well as more traditional CBT and solution-focused talk therapies.
Sometimes, the more you try to hold it together on the outside, the more you fall apart on the inside. If you're feeling anxious, depressed, devastated, confused and overwhelmed by daily responsibilities, life transitions, relationships, grief or trauma, you're probably striving to get back on your feet. It happens to all of us and even the strongest can benefit from taking time to explore (often hidden or forgotten) inner resources. It's not a sign of weakness to seek support, but of wisdom: when what used to work no longer does, it's time to explore alternative options.

I specialize in mindfulness , attachment, compassion-based, somatic, and trauma therapies.
I work with clients and their personal challenges with care, warmth, compassion, and curiosity. We explore the barriers that hold you back from having the life you desire. My focus is to guide you towards a deeper level of change. We do this by exploring the patterns keeping you stuck, beliefs that limit you, and thoughts that cause you distress. Often these patterns are rooted in the past due to early attachment, developmental, relational and shock trauma. Processing these experiences in a safe therapeutic relationship, allows us to heal the past and move to a place of authenticity, integrity, and satisfaction in our lives.

I'm very genuine, Humanistic, love mindfulness and results possible with Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR).
Brave but anxious and overwhelmed clients come to me with traumas, anxiety disorders, depression, trauma, addictions, PTSD, ADHD. Interpersonal problems often begin in family-of-origin, sometimes resulting in disorders later in life. I treat anxiety, self-esteem, self-worth, and help to remove negative patterns over time. Providing support while working towards freedom, confidence, acceptance, and a more attractive perception of self allows a client to function, flow, and define how to move on with life. I make lasting impressions, as it shows in my retention rates, returning clients, and positive feedback.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Counsellors

How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behaviour through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviours and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioural habits.
