Grief has knocked you off balance making your emotions fluctuate day to day. The sudden change hits you, turning everything upside down, and you feel like you're on a rollercoaster. The most tangible thing you feel is emptiness, and it's hard to imagine anything ever filling it. Sad and lonely, you can't do ordinary tasks (or get out of bed, for that matter). It's hard to "move on" when you feel this way. You know you'll have to find new ways of coping, but it doesn't seem fair. Understandably, you're sad and angry about it, and you might even feel guilty about that.

We all have internal strengths and resources to work through life's challenges. Sometimes we lose sight of these strengths, sometimes there's gaps in our skills set, or perhaps there are blind spots in how we view a problem situation. My role is create a safe, non-judgmental space so we can discover the beliefs that are getting in the way of where you'd like to be, practice strategies to manage your current difficulties, and develop new skills to create lasting change.

I'm best suited to clients experiencing anxiety, stress, being "on edge". Health, relationships, work might be triggers to feeling hopeless, helpless, worthless. In contrast, when have you been feeling better, your better self, very much yourself? Nature, arts, sports, people, work, may be "resources". What do you most want in life, what is your wish list? We take steps to help you learn, incorporating body-mind modalities (What do you want, find the words, imagine/see, feel emotions and body) . Teleconferencing (Zoom, FaceTime) works very well . In person is available.

Taking new in-person clients in Edmonton & offer virtual therapy for residents in AB & NWT. I practice EMDR, EFT, Psychedelic Prep & Integration and talk therapy. Want to feel free to fully live your life feeling well & wonder if therapy is for you? It can be hard to imagine discovering & facing what is holding you back but what if therapy is the answer? I believe it can be, it just takes time. Exploring hidden parts of yourself can feel uncomfortable at first but with help, it's easier. Connecting deeply with yourself WILL lead to feeling lighter & feeling free. You can heal your relationships while forming new, meaningful ones too

I use CBT, EMDR, Hypnotherapy, Insight, Mindfulness, Body- centered and Psychodynamic therapies.
Often times in life we can experience personal challenges. These challenges can include losses and trauma. They can leave us feeling anxious or depressed. Counselling can help one make sense of what they have been through. Times of struggle and loss can force us to look inward to re evaluate what has meaning for us and perhaps find out what is our purpose. I have experience working with CAF, First Responders and Vets, as well as people who have experienced childhood trauma. Whatever the challenge we can work together to help you heal and come into wholeness.

My main goal is to provide a warm, accepting and nurturing environment in which my clients can explore their vulnerable parts and grow from them. Often our life circumstances, or even those of our parents and grand-parents, have led us to mistaken beliefs about ourselves, our worth, and our place in life. When we examine these beliefs in a realistic and compassionate manner, we find ways to change that we never believed were possible for us. I have witnessed many such changes over the years, and I believe that a full and happy life is possible for all of us.

I combine this approach with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and, where appropriate, clinical hypnotherapy.
Hair pulling and skin picking can be very challenging to manage independently - they are highly complex behaviours. Often these Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviours (BFRBs) result in shame and guilt. They can be isolating and worrisome. You may feel alone, but you are not. I specialize in treating BFRBs. I also regularly work with clients who have anxiety, obsessions and compulsions (OCD), impulsivity, and individuals who lack confidence (work, studies, relationships). As a Clinical Psychologist (22 years), my approach will help you to experience positive change in the short-term, and learn how to sustain this change in the long-term.
