I work with adults and teenagers who may be struggling with anxiety, depression or trauma related to their relationships, family history and/or traumatic and/or violent incidents in their pasts.
Taking new in-person clients in Edmonton & offer virtual therapy for residents in AB & NWT. I primarily practice EMDR, Emotionally Focused & talk therapy. Want to feel free to fully live your life feeling well & wonder if therapy is for you? It can be hard to imagine discovering & facing what is holding you back but what if therapy is the answer? I believe it can be, it just takes time. Sometimes uncovering hidden parts of yourself feels uncomfortable at first but with help, it's easier. Connecting deeply with yourself WILL lead to feeling lighter & feeling free. You can heal your relationships while forming new, meaningful ones too

As well as working with individuals, families and groups, I have a special interest in working with couples.
Psychodynamic therapy (insight-oriented therapy) focuses on understanding unconscious processes. Early childhood experiences and attachments have a profound impact on our functioning as adults. I strive to help clients recognize patterns in their feelings, thoughts, and beliefs in order to increase self-awareness and change undesired behaviors.

How do you climb a mountain? One step at a time. It’s the same process I use for rock climbing as I do with therapy, blending physical, mental, and emotional resilience. Climbing teaches patience, the power of small, intentional moves, and problem-solving—when one path doesn’t work, we regroup and try again. My holistic, integrative approach emphasizes understanding the unique ways a person processes and expresses their emotions, beliefs, and behaviors. Our emotions, thoughts and body language can dictate how we think, feel and act. Small changes to any one of these areas can lead to a positive ripple that we want to see in life.

Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. Maybe you’re feeling stuck, as if there aren't enough words to describe everything you’re feeling. Perhaps you’ve noticed that your capacity for day-to-day life just isn’t what it once was. Or maybe you’ve been reflecting on your life experiences and want a place to safely examine the collection of joyful and difficult things you’ve been through. I work with individuals who are seeking to connect more deeply to themselves and others. This often includes helping people to navigate shame, anxiety, negative views of self, relationship challenges, and the impacts of sexual violence and other traumas.

Family Therapy Counsellors
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
