I work with individual adults, seniors, couples, and children.
Choosing who to see when starting therapy can be one of the most challenging steps. I hope to make this a bit easier by sharing a few things about myself. As a Mental Health Counsellor (MHC) I’m in the final year of my Master of Counselling degree and have completed all of my practicum hours. I’m passionate about mental health equity and giving back to the community. I practice from an attachment lens, looking at the relationships that have shaped us into the individuals we are.

My work experience has mostly been counselling with adults (and seniors) with different mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, work stress, and stress from life issues.
How do you find the best counsellor for you? This is a difficult choice and often being open and communicating with your counsellor will ensure optimal healing. I come from an acceptance of where you are in your journey. I do not believe the goal of counselling is “counselling itself”, but to find a way to move forward in your journey. "To feel safe with other people is probably the single most important aspect of mental health” (Bessel Van der Kolk, 2014).

Throughout her career, Alana has worked with children, adolescents, adults, and seniors in various environments.
In her practice, Alana wants to ensure every individual is cared for while creating a safe environment for her clients. A powerful tool Alana believes can help promote healing is humor. She values having a sense of humor, as she believes humor can bring people together and where appropriate, can help change the way we perceive events.

I enjoy working with clients from many different walks of life, including folks who are part of the 2SLGBTQ+ community, and older adults.
I also specialize in helping clients heal from interpersonal trauma. Traumatic events overwhelm our ability to cope, and can have lasting impacts on our lives. After trauma, it may be difficult to feel like yourself, feel safe, maintain healthy relationships, and even leave the house. Healing from trauma is absolutely possible.

I am a child and family clinician by training and also work with individuals and elderly adults.
Many times, people struggle with issues but are not sure what to do about them. Is counselling the right approach? Psychotherapy? Coaching? Maybe just coffee with a trusted friend seems like the best solution at times, but maybe you're not feeling sure about that either. What I usually recommend for people experiencing challenges but who are uncertain about what to do is to book a consultation session to talk about what's going on and some options or recommendations for what to do about it. Sometimes one consultation session is enough. Three-session consultations also are available for working through issues in more detail.

I work with adults across the lifespan from young adults to seniors addressing issues like depression, anxiety, grief/loss, fertility concerns, life transitions and perinatal mental health.
Life is filled with very few certainties, but we can be certain that life will always change. Sometimes that change is big and explosive, while other times change happens so slowly that we barely notice it. Sometimes we seek that change for ourselves and other times that change can be thrust upon us. However you find yourself in relationship with the notorious thing called change, please know that you are not alone and that you can and will get through this.

I have over 8+ years of experience working with children, teens, adults, families, and about 3 years of experience facilitating relationship groups for women and men, as well as support groups for school-aged children, adolescents, and seniors.
Life transitions, daily stressors, trauma, and mental illnesses can negatively influence the way we think, feel, and behave. These factors can cause us to feel "stuck" in old habits and patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behaviours that no longer serve us. I recognize that when we are stuck, it is difficult to make that first step towards change and reach out for support. Hence, I acknowledge you for making the first step into finding what works best for you. I understand that you want to take charge of your mental and emotional pain so that you can unlock your utmost potential.
