😷COVID-19 Special Announcement 😷A black swan is defined as an unpredictable event that typically comes with extreme consequences. The advent of antibiotic resistant superbugs have been predicted for decades, but most can't help but feel helpless, anxious and/or stressed since coronavirus' unannounced arrival. Despite a higher mortality rate than your average seasonal flu, fear is more contagious than the virus itself. Since greed & fear are the biggest drivers of social behaviours, stigma and ignorance are the greatest threats to social stability. Coronavirus’s economic danger is exponentially greater than its public health risks.

Welcome! Choosing a psychologist can feel overwhelming. During sessions it is important that anyone who comes to see me feels that they are in a non-judgemental and safe environment. The first thing I will do is listen to your situation and determine a course of action, after all you are coming to therapy for results. From this point we will work together to ensure that progress continues. Therapy can be scary and a complete relief at the same time. You will be in good hands as resolution for your concerns begins. All insurance benefits can be utilized.

Many people who struggle with mental health issues such as depression , anxiety, and stress, feel embarrassed or stigmatized. Others who struggle with domestic violence, relationship issues, faith based struggles, addiction issues, suicidal ideations, and anger management issues feel alone and unsure of who they can speak to. The foundation of my counselling practice is being compassionate and non-judgmental. I provide a person-centred practice which is about the client defining their own goals. I assure my clients they are in a safe place, confidentiality upheld, validated, and their life story and experiences honoured.

Depression Counsellors
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy by depression counsellors in Edmonton. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
