Using a person-centered approach, I value your insights and beliefs to help me understand your life experiences and prioritize relationship building.
What do you want your life to look like? Are you feeling overwhelmed, distracted, unable to concentrate? Does the harsh sound of your morning alarm create a feeling of dread? Are you hoping that your next coffee, snack, or social media scrolling session will give you the energy to keep going? It is said that a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step and counselling is like that too. Making the decision to attend counselling is an important step and frequently made when you are struggling and feeling overwhelmed. I applaud your courage in taking steps towards recognizing things in your life that are not serving you.

I have experience helping clients to work on issues related to anger, anxiety, coping, trauma, depression, stress, relationship , grief and loss, and much more.
I believe that many things in our lives are on a continuum, including the intensity of the problem, resilience, resourcefulness, and healing. Sometimes we need more guidance and help than other times, and sometimes we feel that we can manage on our own. The striving to heal or cope at our best may be subtle or more apparent in our lives. This striving may help us to realize that change is needed, contemplate it, and act. My approach to psychotherapy is integrative and eclectic, as I want to ensure that I am well-equipped to address the diverse needs of clients.

Having worked with a wide range of diagnoses in the past, my areas of specialty are anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and self-esteem, though I have experience with ADHD, addictions, personality disorders, and stress.
Hello! I'm glad you stopped by, because I know that seeking out help during difficult times can be intimidating. Right off the bat, I want to let you know that I would love to meet with you and talk about what you're going through. My goal is to provide a warm environment where we can work together on your goals. Ideally, you would come with a willingness to share about what's bothering you, and an openness to trying some new things. In return, I commit to helping you set meaningful goals and identify the blind spots that might be holding you back.

Couples Counselling

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
