Along with helping clients with issues such as stress, anxiety, depression, substance use and other mental health challenges, much of our therapy work falls into 1 of 5 areas: Parenting Support and Child/Adolescent Therapy • Men's Issues & Mental/Emotional Health • Relationship Health • Career transition and work-related counselling • Separation and Divorce.
Let's face it, life can feel unbearable at times and relationships and parenting are emotionally taxing. If you're reading this and this is your first time working with a psychologist, this is likely not a high moment for you. Rarely do clients start a session with, "My life is great! Things couldn't be better!" The reality is you're struggling, feeling lost and in pain, things are not going well for you or someone you care about, and we have entered the picture somewhere along the way. That you trust a therapist or anyone else enough to connect with you in that struggle is tough to do, and a responsibility we do not take lightly.

There’s no way around it, Clinical Supervision is the gateway to your career as an Independent Practitioner and so your clinical supervisor is the gatekeeper.
As a new clinician, you may be feeling overwhelmed and frustrated with finding qualified Canadian Clinical Supervisors who can not only help you obtain your supervision hours but also provide meaningful support towards your professional growth within a Canadian context. The problem is, too many new clinicians like you are reaching dead ends and road blocks towards locating and accessing a Supervisor…this is a devastating and pain-staking experience! This is a fundamental and necessary component to your professional development, and you don’t have time to waste. So it is vital you make the right match with a clinical supervisor

While today, I counsel and consult with professionals around talent development, motivation, and strategy, most of my life I have felt the emotional pangs of parental enmeshment and death, insurmountable bodily anxiety, and perfectionistic conflict around who I am, and who I’ve wanted to be. Chasing that feeling of being "good enough". As I grew, I became adept at intellectualizing my experience, identifying patterns, and developing my self-concept. However, I struggled to safely process the associated emotions, attachment wounds, and repattern how I conceived my internal world and received others. I didn't even know where to start.

What keeps us feeling like we are in limbo/stuck? Unresolved issues and traumas can keep us feeling and/or thinking that we are not progressing as we'd like, resulting in many feelings of being overwhelmed, burned out, and experiencing physical/emotional pains. Everyone has a story! Everyone's story is multi-layered and contains multiple levels of pain. My clients suffer from depression, anxiety, addiction, borderline personality disorder, emotional dysregulation, and grief & loss. Their immediate needs are relief from such issues, finding peace of mind, and regaining control of their lives. Clients want to be heard and seen and experience love and acceptance, regardless of what is going on around them. Clients want these things because they desire to know and be reassured that there is hope for a bright future.

It is my belief that people have the strengths and abilities to navigate through life's challenges. The question is, "How do you use what you already have to meet life's challenges?" I work with individuals, groups, families, teams, and organizations collaboratively towards shared goals and outcomes that are rooted in evidence-based practices. Sessions are interactive, transparent, and optimistic. An eclectic approach rooted in Individual Psychology and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy offers the versatility for a culturally sensitive, non-judgmental, and an efficient working relationship.

As a registered psychologist and having been in private practice for 14 years, I have had the privilege to meet and work with many wonderful couples, families and individuals. I strive to establish a solid rapport with clients in a comfortable environment. I have been told that clients appreciate my professional and direct approach that is not overly formal and allows for humour when appropriate. I use a biopsychosocial approach and incorporate several therapeutic modalities. I work to not only focus on managing symptoms, but getting down to the root cause of what is getting in the way of being able to achieve one’s goals.
