I believe the quality of the therapeutic relationship is crucial to the effectiveness of psychotherapy. My goal as therapist is to establish a relationship with my client that will allow me to effectively understand them in a nonjudgmental way and challenge them to grow and gain new perspective. I seek to be emotionally present, authentic, respectful, open, honest, and deeply empathic. In building on my client's existing inner strengths, they are empowered to seek and make the changes needed to live full and satisfying lives.

Maybe you’re living with the aftermath of trauma, navigating the deep wounds of sexual assault, or riding the constant push-and-pull of anxiety and depression. Perhaps there’s shame that lingers and a voice telling you should be over it by now, or a fear that no one will truly understand what you’ve been through. There might also be a quiet, invisible weight you carry: the impact of childhood neglect or abandonment, the scars left by past relationships, or the numbing effect of pushing your feelings aside for too long. On the outside, you may seem “fine,” but inside, you feel disconnected from yourself and the person you love

Are you someone who knows how you want to eat and how you want to eat but get stuck somewhere between what you want to put into your mouth and what you actually put into your mouth? Do you see your relationship to food as an emotional expression of what is going on inside of you? I support my clients in getting in touch with their physical hunger cues and then the emotional, spiritual hungers that arise as a result. I have been there. I've done retreats on my eating and my thesis on how we use our body to express internal struggles. There is a you waiting to get out to stand tall and shine. Food & eating can actually be the way out.

As an African therapist, I work with teens, adults, and families from diverse backgrounds.
You may look like you’re managing on the outside while feeling overwhelmed, stretched, or unsure of yourself underneath. You might be navigating anxiety, stress, past hurt, identity, cultural expectations, family dynamics, or life changes that have left you feeling disconnected. You want relief, clarity, and to feel more like yourself again. I support individuals and families who want to slow down, make sense of what has shaped them, and build steadier ways of relating to their emotions, bodies, and relationships. Together, we focus on healing, self-trust, and meaningful change that feels supportive, sustainable, and true to you.

Many of us struggle with self-doubt and inconfidence. It's like we’re carrying around an invisible weight that holds us back from feeling fulfilled in our relationships, work, and personal life. Core misbeliefs, often shaped by early life experiences, have a deep impact on our self-perception, choices, and behaviours. With more self-acceptance and by realizing your own truth, you can move past the walls that are impacting how you feel and think, and proceed with more confidence and compassion. It's a journey, but with each step you get closer to living a life that's true to who you really are.

You want to live fully, but instead you find yourself holding back. Maybe anxiety keeps your chest tight and your mind racing, replaying conversations or planning for every possible outcome. Maybe you’re navigating life as a neurodivergent person in a world that often doesn’t make space for the way your brain works. You want to feel comfortable in your own skin, to stop second guessing yourself, and to finally breathe a little easier.

My style of therapy is collaborative. I believe that everyone has a unique story and that although I have a lot of theoretical knowledge, you are the best source of knowledge about yourself. We will work together to understand your past and create a present and future around your determined priorities and goals. I view everyone as having a unique path for growth and it is my privilege to be included in discovering that path. I practice a non-judgemental attitude toward the past, believing that the past is part of each of us, but the present is where the work happens.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
