You may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or disconnected from yourself - like your thoughts are racing and it’s hard to feel at home in your own body. Perhaps you carry old wounds that still echo today, or you’re simply longing for a safe space to pause, breathe, and reconnect. Deep down, you want to feel calmer, more grounded, and more at peace with who you are. You’re searching for a way to soften into self-love and begin creating a life that feels more balanced and whole.

Welcome! What if the goal of therapy isn’t to 'fix' who you are, but to help you access more of your true self? Therapy with me is collaborative, authentic, and yes—there’s laughter. I believe healing doesn’t have to be heavy all the time. We’ll get curious together about what matters most to you, gently untangle the stuff that’s getting in the way, and build psychological flexibility so you can move toward a life that feels more like yours. My approach is grounded in compassion, honesty, and honoring your lived experience. Come as you are!

Hi, I’m Taylor! I value honesty in my work, so let's be honest. Counselling is hard. It can be uncomfortable and uncertain. And… it can be really, really helpful. I'd like to support you through whatever you are dealing with right now; with humour, with honesty, and with empathy. I value my relationship with clients and will aim to create a safe space to both help validate you and to push you. Whether you are here to work on specific goals, or you are looking to work on personal growth, I would be honoured to be a part of the process. Take a look around here, see if I'm a good fit for you, and when you're ready, let's get to work!

Hi there! My name is Julia (she/her), and I am a master’s level practicum student with a penchant for diving deep into the many complexities of life. Personhood brings with it many non-black-and-white experiences that can sometimes be difficult to navigate on our own, especially when we are required to traverse the metaphorical grey for answers, closure, and (most importantly) healing. I largely work within the Internal Family Systems framework: an evidenced-based modality that makes space for deeper healing work in a system that often renders us as disembodied minds and thoughts.

This may present as anxiety, grief, depression, eating disorders, relational issues and more.
Life can come with a turbulence that at times feels unbearable. Waves of grief, anger, sorrow, disappointment and so much more knocking us to our knees. Often times, we need someone who can compassionately sit with us, while we find our way back to the surface of these hard times. I can sit with you. I believe that we hold all we need within to find the way through these times, and as such building confidence and resilience to better equip ourselves with tools for the next time things feel like a storm. I have had to learn myself, how to be with all the emotions that come with being a human being. Learning to sit with what is.

I work from a client centered approach as the basis for our work together. We can then decide on which of the empirically supported approaches (or more likely which combination of approaches) is the best fit for you and your situation. The basis is a non-judgmental stance to what you face and designing a tailored, you-specific, empirically supported approach to help you gain a better understanding of your situation and more adaptive ways of managing or coping. I borrow from various approaches including client-centered, Cognitive-behavioral, Acceptance and Commitment, Mindfulness-based, Emotion focused, and insight oriented.

Have you ever felt stress in your life that outweighed your internal resources to cope? I think we all have at some point in our lives, and it can be overwhelming! For this reason, it is often helpful to seek support, learn new coping strategies, and talk about whatever is bothering us in an open and judgment-free environment.

What happens in therapy for eating disorders?

In therapy for eating disorders, patients typically describe their eating and exercise behaviors, their patterns of eating in relation to stress, their beliefs about their body, the ways their eating behavior affects their relationships, and their desire (or lack of it) to change. Such information helps the therapist understand the origins of the disorder and the role it plays in the patient’s life, important for guiding treatment. Attitudes and feelings about food and eating, body weight, and physical appearance are common topics of discussion throughout treatment.

What therapy types help with eating disorders?

Once any acute medical or psychiatric emergency is resolved, psychoactive medication is often prescribed, requiring the supervision of a psychiatrist. In addition, patients receive some form of nutritional counseling along with one or more forms of psychotherapy. For adolescents, family-based treatment is empirically validated and considered the first line of treatment; parents and their children meet weekly with a clinician as the adults are coached on how to nourish and psychologically support the young patient. Adults typically receive some form of individual psychotherapy, intended to resolve the cognitive and behavioral disturbances that underlie the disorder and to relieve the mood disturbances that accompany it. In addition, patients may also be helped by group therapy.

What is the goal of therapy for eating disorders?

The most immediate goal of treatment for eating disorders is to save the life of people who are on a path of starving themselves to death or engaging in eating patterns that are doing irreparable physical harm to their body. Once the acute medical danger is past, therapy is required to understand the nature of the disordered eating and/or exercise patterns, establish healthy eating behavior, and to tackle the many erroneous beliefs and distorted self-perceptions that underlie eating disorders and continue to pose a threat to health and life. Therapy also addresses the impaired mood that not only accompanies eating disorders but intensifies the danger to health and life.

What are the limitations of therapy for eating disorders?

Therapy can be very helpful for eating disorders—but that can happen only after people recognize they have a condition that must be treated. Especially with anorexia, the distortions in self-image that accompany the disorder can keep people from acknowledging they have a problem. Individuals may in fact see their eating disorder as a badge of self-control. Those with binge-eating disorder may feel too ashamed to seek help. Therapy cannot help those who do not avail themselves of it.

How long does therapy last for eating disorders?

Because of their complexity, recovery from eating disorders is usually a long-term process—measured in months and years— often marked by setbacks and relapse. Some form of help, such as individual or group therapy, may be advisable for much of that time. It is a general rule of thumb that the longer the illness has endured and the dysregulated eating behavior has taken root, the longer treatment is likely to be needed.
