I also support teens (16+) through overwhelm or ADHD in the same way.
Your at wit's end from being pulled thin in all directions. Perhaps no rest helps your exhaustion or grief. Big life changes are too confusing. Or you may have been recently diagnosed with ADHD — or you're starting to wonder if it's been there all along. Suddenly, years of burnout, overwhelm, and "why does this feel harder for me than everyone else?" start to make sense. You've pushed yourself to keep up. You've blamed yourself when systems didn't stick. And now you're exhausted. Even if ADHD isn't part of your story, you may feel chronically stressed, burned out, or unsettled by a life stage change that's harder than you expected.

The Centre for Psychodynamic Insights is a virtual clinic specializing in psychodynamic psychotherapy. This approach explores the root causes of symptoms by uncovering and understanding underlying emotions through evidence-based treatment. Through collaborative dialogue, we examine unconscious thoughts and emotions shaped from childhood to the present. We work to relieve symptoms by understanding how these patterns affect current experiences, and create targeted strategies for meaningful change long-term.

Having been well acquainted with the weight and pain of toxic shame myself, as well as having experienced this weight being lifted, I have a passion for helping others go through this shift too, in order to feel freer to share their authentic self with the people they hold most dear. I also have a passion for practicing and teaching mindfulness. Applying mindfulness to the many areas of my own life, including work, parenting, communication, and relationships with both myself and others, to name a few, has been life changing and has allowed me to more frequently experience life in the moment.

You show up for everyone. But underneath, you are running on empty, mentally fatigued, second-guessing yourself, carrying a quiet sense that something needs to change. You are probably not in crisis. You are just tired of carrying so much for so long, and part of you knows it is time to do something about it. In our work together, you will have space to slow down and actually look at what is happening beneath the surface. You will build tools to work with your thoughts and emotions rather than fight them, notice where stress lives in your body, and get clearer on what you actually want your life to feel like.

I don't believe people should suffer loneliness and shame because of any part of their sexuality. I believe that everyone is entitled to a happy, healthy, and fulfilling life, no matter who they are attracted to. My ideal client struggles with conflicted or problematic sexual attractions, including those attracted to children (MAPs). They feel isolated but desire a happy, fulfilling life and a way to engage in accountability, self-discovery, and growth. They need a safe, non-judgmental space to explore these feelings and desires.

It takes courage to seek help, so I commend you for taking this first step. Although therapy can seem intimidating, I view it as just like any other health service, such as the dentist or chiropractor. Just like how we visit the dentist if we have severe tooth pain or need a routine cleaning, I am here for both your traumatic experiences as well as maintenance sessions. No issue is too small when working with me and my practice, Arcadia Counselling. No one is meant to struggle alone, which is where I come in. Therapy looks different for everyone whether that is a place to unload, learn techniques, or improve your quality of life.

The teenage years can feel overwhelming.
With over 20 years as a teacher, I've spent my career listening to and supporting young people through challenges and growth. This experience helps me connect with teens in a compassionate, understanding way. Together, we explore what's going on beneath the surface and develop practical strategies that support growth and resilience.

I work with the following individuals: healthcare professionals, caregivers, individuals navigating grief, major life transitions, experiencing burnout, teenagers and young adults.
I have significant experience in healthcare, including previously working as a paramedic. This has helped me to develop an understanding of trauma, grief and loss and caregiver stress. I can help navigate the healthcare system and the many layers of emotions involved. I work from a somatic approach, which means that I work to connect the mind and the body.

I am a registered psychologist and have worked with a diverse clientele over my career. I recognize it can take a tremendous amount of courage to ask for help however, almost everyone can benefit from the opportunity to share and explore in a non judgmental, comfortable setting. This experience can lead to learning new skills, recognizing existing strengths and/or gaining a new perspective. All of which can be helpful in reducing symptoms, discomfort and increase the quality of life.

I see adolescents and adults for counselling (individuals, couples and families), ADHD and mental health assessment.
We all experience times in our lives when we struggle, whether it be with mental health, relationships challenges, life transitions or a lack of purpose. We need to be gentle with ourselves and give ourselves grace as we move through the different stages of our lives. Sometimes it feels messy, and collaboration can help us to make sense of it. From an attachment-based and trauma-informed perspective, I will help you work through your circumstance and move forward in a way that is healthy for you.

You’re the one who holds it together—until it starts to crack. On the outside, you’re functioning, reliable, and “fine.” On the inside, you’re overwhelmed, anxious, irritable, or shutting down. I work with children (10+), women, and men navigating trauma, anxiety, burnout, and emotional overwhelm. Many feel stuck in patterns they don’t understand or can’t break, often questioning why the same struggles keep showing up in relationships, emotions, or daily life. Together, we uncover what’s driving these patterns, connect them to your experiences, and build practical ways to cope, respond differently, and feel more in control.

On the outside, you're winning. On the inside, your brain won't shut up. You're capable and accomplished, but exhausted from overthinking, perfectionism, and anxiety that logic can't fix. Your intelligence isn't solving the problem—it's fueling the loop. I work with people whose brains won't let go: intrusive thoughts that feel dangerous, checking rituals you can't stop, relationship doubt on repeat, perfectionism that keeps projects permanently stuck. I also live with OCD, so I understand the difference between "just stop" advice and treatment that actually works.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
