Learning about yourself is an enlightening and important process. Therapy is personal. It’s about your life, passions, desires, and challenges. Finding the right therapist for you is key in your therapeutic success. My strength as a psychologist comes from my ability to build relationships of trust with patients, guiding them on a journey of self-discovery and healing, while leveraging my experience in both clinical assessment and talk-therapy to design an approach that creates momentum.
The therapy process is a journey, and having effective support along the way can prove to be invaluable. I believe that one of the most powerful elements in healing and achieving a life worth living is authenticity in the therapeutic relationship. While we embark on this journey, I bring compassion, humour, safety, respect and acceptance to the process. With this, we will move forward to learn new coping skills, build on your current strengths and take on new challenges that are in alignment with your own values and goals for your future.
I continue to be intrigued by the human spirit as it looks for answers that will bring healing to relationships, big life decisions, inner struggles and general well-being. With over 30 years of working with people and 26 years as a Registered Psychologist, I enjoy collaborating with individuals, families, teams and communities to deepen their stories, strengthen existing resources, discover new ways to provide resource and to make changes that are sturdy and forward moving.
I have strong clinical skills and am a goal-oriented therapist with almost 40 years experience. I'm passionate about my work with those who seek new meaning to multiple issues and who need clarity to that which has been overwhelming. You will be supported to participate in a process that facilitates healing, learn new skills and be empowered to overcome obstacles and replace unhealthy patterns. In our work, you will discover opportunities to appreciate the purpose, lessons and potential gifts out of your challenges.
It can be hard to step into life the way you want when struggling with painful thoughts, emotions, or experiences. Asking for help takes courage and I work hard to provide a safe and authentic space to support you. In therapy we work collaboratively so that you can gain new insight, experience peace, and find creative, workable ways to tackle difficult behavioural, emotional, or interpersonal problems.

I work from a Mindfulness based approach to mental health and wellness. Whether you are seeking to reduce anxiety, manage stress or reconnect in your relationships, Mindfulness can be a valuable daily practice. Are you currently feeling stressed, worried or overwhelmed by life’s challenges? Are you feeling strain in your relationships or experiencing stress and uncertainty about the future? Do you feel overwhelmed by a seemingly endless to do list or that you are constantly rushing through life? Or perhaps you have ended a relationship and are feeling stuck or uncertain? Mindfulness can be a long lasting, effective path forward.
I am an open minded therapist who believes in a collaborative and supportive experience. I work from an evidenced based model and pull strategies from a variety of different therapies to help clients experience success and achieve their goals. I also have a strong and diverse assessment/diagnosis background and am able to provide diagnostic clarity when needed, both from a learning and psychological perspective. I very much believe in the strengths and resiliency of my clients and am proud to assist them in their journey of healing and recovery.
Do you find yourself avoiding difficult emotions, situations, and experiences only to bottle it up and have it become an impossible monster to face? Emotions are complex, wonderful, sometimes confusing, but always precious things. Sometimes they help us feel the best we ever have, other times they make us feel like we aren’t in control and feel our worst. Finding ways to express emotions from all levels of this spectrum is a fundamental tool I am passionate about helping individuals develop. You deserve to find joy every day, and feel confident in your skills to maintain it long term.

Sometimes finding a solution requires us to change the way we think about a problem instead of attempting to change the behaviors that caused it. I take a collaborative approach to therapy, by empowering clients to rely on their own resilience and strength to explore solutions. I specialize in working with adolescents, families, and adults with concerns involving complex mental health, trauma, grief and loss, and behavioral and mood disorders that can cause high risk or impulsive actions. A positive therapeutic relationship is essential to the therapy process. You need to feel safe, supported, and comfortable during therapy.
I believe that life can throws us challenges and some of those challenges may feel harder than others to overcome. I strongly value connection and the need for relationship as a key piece of effectively navigating these life challenges. I strive to offer clients compassion, and the space they need to do this. My hope is that through a strong therapeutic relationship we can create shared meaning to strive towards meaningful change.
I work with adult clients who would benefit from cognitive testing and training to improve or maintain their level of cognitive performance. My clients may have psychiatric concerns (such as stress, anxiety, depression, or psychosis) or medical problems (such as concussion, ADHD, stroke, pain, or dementia) that have affected their concentration and focus, memory, or ability to think quickly or clearly. Other clients have not been diagnosed with a condition but want to maintain or optimize their cognitive functioning to help improve their performance at school, work, or sports.
*NOW ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS* I operate from a trauma-informed person-centered approach, as I know that I am inviting clients to reveal vulnerable parts of themselves and should be met with nonjudgment and unconditional positive regard. My person-centered approach allows me to shift from a deficit based perspective to a strength-based perspective, allowing for a relational depth that transcends labels. My practice is grounded in providing affirming care to assist clients in embracing personal self-worth and bolstering personal agency.
Priority spots for health care workers struggling with care during COVID. When life overwhelms you, it might be time to take inventory of what's working and what's not. I support clients who need a tweak, a change, or an overhaul to feel more satisfied in their work, relationships, or life in general. Together, we will build an understanding of your strengths, challenges, history, and goals. We can uncover what has worked in the past and what is getting in the way, now. We can co-design a plan for how to move forward and help you feel better.
