Though unsettling, adversity in this life is guaranteed. As faint as it may be, it is ‘hope’ that has brought you to this page. We seek support, in the hopes that things will change for the better. It is through faith placed in our support network, that we allow others to walk alongside us. Thank you for trusting me to walk with you through this season in your life.
It can be hard to step into life the way you want when struggling with painful thoughts, emotions, or experiences. Asking for help takes courage and I work hard to provide a safe and authentic space to support you. I am passionate about working with people who feel hijacked by their thoughts and emotions, and with couples who are finding it difficult to feel securely connected. In therapy we work collaboratively so that you can gain new insight, experience peace, and find creative, workable ways to tackle difficult behavioural, emotional, or interpersonal problems.
Hi! I'm Stefanie, a Registered Psychologist, and it's a pleasure to meet you! I love working with people to help them navigate through the many challenges that life can throw our way. My approach is non-judgmental and welcoming. While therapy can be hard at times, I want you to feel a sense of relief after our sessions (kind of like untangling a giant knot in your brain)!
Life can sometimes get messy and sorting it all out can be difficult. When we struggle to cope or face challenges we don’t know how to deal with, it can be helpful to have support. Sometimes, we just need someone to validate what we are going through and help us clarify our next steps. At other times, we may want to build our skills to manage stress; navigate relationships; or face illness, anxiety, or depression. Whatever you are experiencing, I provide strengths-based counselling that centres around exploring personal values and building self-acceptance and self-compassion.
Experienced Ph.D. level registered psychologist, practicing in Calgary since 1987. I enjoy helping motivated individuals in therapy. I combine clinical training with personal authenticity and sensitivity to diversity and socialization influences on how we handle what we are facing. Effective therapy is collaborative and empowering, with therapist and clients working together to make positive changes towards the clients' goals. This may involve learning to self-soothe, anti-depressant behaviours, and homework between sessions. Good therapy builds on strengths.
My name is Ayen Mabor. I am a MSW, RSW and I have 20 years’ experience in the counselling field. My approach to counselling is influenced by several theories and life experiences such as: Motivational approaches, Solution Focus, Strength Based, Family Centred, Cognitive Behaviour and System Theories. I was a refugee child, and that experience has shaped my view of life. I am compassionate, kind, caring, respectful, non-judgmental and always ready to lend a helping hand. In addition, I am multilingual; fluent in Dinka, Bari and Sudanese Arabic, and I am versed in African and Arabic cultures.
I specialize in working with individuals who want to process anxiety, depression and trauma in various stages of their lives. When working with you, I take into consideration not only what is happening in your life now, but also what has happened in the past to influence your current attitudes, beliefs and responses. Through our work together you may gain insight and become more conscious of your feelings and beliefs that can typically override your best intentions and thoughts. I will seek to tap into your strengths while equipping you to use these to make the changes you want. I also integrate a Christian Perspective if desired.
I recognize that it may be difficult to speak to someone about your concerns - know that my job is to listen and help but never to judge. I work with children, teens and adults, to support all of life's challenges ranging from behavioural concerns, low self esteem, lack of confidence, suicidal ideation, self harm, anxiety, depression and life adjustment. I enjoy parent consultation and family therapy, and have experience in both counselling and assessments (adoption, mental health and psycho-educational assessments). I use play and art therapy, behavioural coaching, CBT, ACT and narrative therapy to support my clients.

Life can certainly feel uncertain at times. Are you undergoing some changes or challenges and looking for support? Do you, or your loved ones, struggle with depression, anxiety or relationship issues? I work with children, youth and families who seek help with communication, conflict resolution, emotional balance and improvement in relationships. In a collaborative and supportive way, clients and I strive to reconnect with strengths, resources and new concepts. With the right approach, a renewed sense of hope, empowerment and strength can be found while managing life changes and challenges.
Are you currently struggling with painful thoughts, feelings, or past events? Are these difficulties creating anxiety, panic, dread, loss of sleep, chronic pain, or difficulties managing your emotions? Do you feel lost, disconnected from yourself or others, and feel like you are not the person you once were? Maybe you are coming to terms with feeling as if you never really did find yourself or who you were meant to be? I admire and respect the courage and strength it takes to initiate therapy. I am so glad you reached out. It can be challenging to revisit the past, especially when it involves revisiting traumatic events.
Registered Social Worker, Psychotherapist, MSW, RSW
As a genuine and empathetic counsellor who is passionate about empowering my clients to grow, succeed, and thrive, I walk the journey of healing and growth with my clients, meeting them where they are at to make connections and feel empowered to move forward. As a daughter, mother, sibling, friend, colleague and fellow human being, I deeply believe in the power of compassion, humility and gratitude. I believe in humanity and in the incredible potential each one of us have to offer to one another and make our world a better and beautiful place.
Looking within ourselves is a powerful tool for change. If you are looking for a safe place to explore different ways of dealing with stressors in your life and improve your mental health, we are here for you. Our individualized approach will ensure that counselling is tailored to your needs to ensure you can meet your goals.
CONFIDENTIAL, COMPASSIONATE, SKILLED...My clients are curious, brave and ready to evolve, even if they're not quite sure what that looks like yet. They are looking to access the underlying roots of present day triggers, to live authentically in a world that promotes quick fix solutions and unending busyness. Meaningful growth commands us to slow down, pay attention, inquire within, and be (not do). Individuals that connect with me are ready for something different, something deeper. They are ready to develop a more compassionate relationship to the parts of self that are calling for attention. They are ready to thrive.
The modern woman is under so much pressure! We feel the pressure of societal expectations in everything we do and everything we are: physical appearance, parenting, career, relationships, work/life balance, etc. SPOILER ALERT: when we try to make everything perfect, we set ourselves up for failure. And when we feel like a failure, our inner critic kicks in. Even though we feel so much external pressure, we can often be our own worst enemy. Many modern women feel stressed, overwhelmed, and not good enough.
“Caregiver Stress Specialist” Although caregiving can be uniquely rewarding, it's also a physically and mentally demanding job. Caring for someone with a chronic health condition, or dementia, may leave you feeling exhausted most of the time. You may feel overwhelmed, anxious, irritable, and at times experience sadness, frustration, and resentment - sometimes followed by guilt and/or shame for having these feelings. There may be historical relationship issues involved, further complicating matters. You may feel like your life is on hold - having the time to take care of yourself, do the things you enjoy, may be a distant memory.
Living with or supporting a loved one with mental health difficulties can be overwhelming. My work focuses on supporting children, youth and adults to overcome challenges like eating disorders, health related difficulties, grief, life transitions, relationship issues, anger and stress, and burnout. I work with children as young as 7 years old, adolescents, and adults.
