I work from a trauma-informed and mindfulness-based perspective, with a compassionate and gentle approach to trauma, addiction, grief, and relationship issues.
We all carry multiple stories about our selves, our lives, and our experiences. There are parts in our stories that are sometimes hidden from our awareness. It is in the calm noticing, re-discovery, and re-telling of our stories that we can find and connect with parts of ourselves that may need healing, and also parts of ourselves that are insightful, strong, and brilliant even in the midst of hardship and darkness. Through facilitating, witnessing, and holding space together, we can engage in our personal work of healing. I look forward to connecting with you.

I am a certified Master trained Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) Practitioner, which is an evidence-based treatment for psychological trauma and other mental health concerns such as (but not limited to) anxiety, depression, family issues, relationship issues, phobias, obsessive compulsive behaviours, post-traumatic stress disorder and complex trauma.
Our lived experiences as humans can vary greatly, but the 'human condition' is something we all share. Common themes exist between all of us… albeit race, gender, socioeconomic status, etc. Themes such as loneliness, fear, joy, and most evidently (i.e. research reinforced) our innate need for "connection"…true connection to ourselves and to the ones we love most dearly. My goal is to provide individuals (i.e. pre-adolescents, adolescents, adults) and/or families alike the chance to feel unconditionally supported as they seek the aid they require for psychological well-being…to walk beside you on your therapeutic journey.

People come to see me for a variety of reasons ranging from self-exploration to trauma treatment.
I have dedicated my life to helping people because I know what it is like to feel misunderstood. I want to help you understand what you don’t know about yourself yet, working towards extending yourself the compassion that you deserve, and cultivating the changes you want for yourself. Don’t get me wrong- this process can be hard work and can take some time. While I may work with you on certain strategies or tools, my goal is to create a space to help unfold the person that you are meant to be and to see the magic of who you are.

We offer specialized services for those experiencing trauma impacts, general mental health concerns, addictions struggles, and grief.
Hello! My name is Chelsea and I love nature, music, dance, spirituality, and philosophical thinking. I approach therapy through a foundation of person-centered counselling and somatic healing through the body. I have a strong orientation to social justice and I am an intersectional feminist. I approach therapy from a social and political lens, understanding that systems of oppression and injustice in our world affect many parts of our lives. As a therapist I see strength and beauty in each person’s unique character and in their story! I am also a therapist who is authentic, relational, and humorous.

I work with individuals seeking support with anxiety, depression, stress/trauma, relationship concerns, life transitions grief and loss. My work experience is in trauma informed practice, reflective supervision, consultation with caregivers, and individual therapy for adults and youth.
Change is a part of every life. When people look for a psychologist, they often need support to create the change they want in their lives or adjust to changes beyond their control. In our work together, we will build a collaborative working relationship that responds to your needs and strengths– aligning you with the goals, values, and actions that will carry you through change. While we may spend some time understanding your past, our work will mainly be focused on building health in the present and moving you toward the future you want.

Trauma and PTSD Counsellors

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
