As someone who's sex & pleasure positive, LGBTQIA+-affirming,
kink
-aware, poly(am)-aware, and SWer friendly, I'm here to walk alongside you in moving towards growth as you define it.
I'm a Registered Social Worker who works with adults (individuals and relationships/couples) and youth ages 15+. I am passionate about cultivating therapeutic spaces that are culturally-sensitive and trauma-informed. Utilizing research, professional knowledge, and lived experience, I will invite your authenticity to shine through and be celebrated. As you are the expert of your own life, we will draw upon your knowledge, strengths, curiosity, and processes of self-reflection to address challenges, gain perspective, and develop skills to help you navigate your world.

My practice is focused on decolonizing, fat-liberation, unlearning normative values, LGBTQ2IA+ and BIPOC advocacy, sexuality,
kink
, neurodiversity, sports performance, relationships, and boundary setting.
As a queer therapist, I understand the challenges of finding inclusive support and the transformative effects of collaborative therapy. I believe the most powerful aspect of therapy is a therapeutic partnership that learns and grows together. This means that I will bring my whole self into our work together and join you in your exploration and identify the things that matter to you. Healing and growth happen in the presence of safety and being truly seen and understood. I offer an anti-oppressive, queer, intersectional, and social justice approach to counselling.

As a registered psychologist and sex therapist, I offer individual and couple’s therapy in a non-judgemental environment that is LGBTQ/ENM/
kink
affirming, with a focus on healthy relationships and sex/intimacy issues.
Relationships, intimacy, and sexual expression are key to our existence as humans. We thrive on connection. Often from our earliest connections, we learn patterns and coping mechanisms for survival that can get in the way of presence with ourselves and with others and how we want to express ourselves in this world. Learn to communicate in ways that get your needs and wants met. Set boundaries and limits to create peace in your relationships. Work through issues to find the emotional connection and sexual intimacy and expression that you desire. Release sexual/body/pleasure shame to express yourself fully in this world.

I adopt an LGBTQ2S+ affirming,
kink
-friendly environment that is free from diet-talk or weight stigma.
We are each on a journey in search of safety, meaning, and fulfillment. Along the way we are constantly exposed to images and ideals of how we are supposed to look, how we are supposed to feel, and how we are supposed to behave. We start to doubt our uniqueness or our worth. I aim to create safe spaces to talk about things that might seem too personal, taboo, shameful, trivial, or embarrassing to share with others in your life. Together we can examine limiting beliefs about yourself, old stories of who you are and how you "should" be in the world, so you can start to live by choice, not by chance.

I welcome people from all walks of life, in monogamous and open relationships, straight and LGBTQ+, and am
kink
friendly.
In relationships when great sex (or any intimacy at all) is a distant memory, communication becomes stuck, and a feeling of closeness is longed for again, these become signs that a different approach is needed to end the frustration and renew aliveness. The desire for intimacy, to feel connected, and to matter are key aspects of who we are as human beings.

Accepting new clients! Living with chronic illness, disability, or neurodivergence is hard. Getting through the overwhelm of everyday life feels impossible. You're starting to feel like all you think about is your condition and everything it has taken away from you - work, hobbies, sleep, relationships. Your family and friends don’t get it. They try to help and probably mean well, but sometimes the dismissive way they say things makes you feel worse. You try to hide your symptoms to seem “normal” but inside, you feel like you might break.

In my experience, folks seek counselling for many reasons. Some may feel stuck or tired of tackling long-standing challenges while others may feel unsure about what steps to take to feel better. What I know to be true is that you don’t have to struggle on your own, that support is available, and that you can create change! While I have specialized knowledge in identity development, sexuality, sexual violence, and trauma, I also support individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, career uncertainty, communication or assertiveness skills, neurodiversity (ADHD), relationship challenges, and stress management.

Sex-Positive, Kink Allied Counsellors
Why might an individual want to see a sex-positive, kink-allied therapist?
A sex-positive or kinky individual may want to see a sex-positive, kink-allied therapist because the client may feel safer and more supported discussing their experiences and challenges. A therapist who identifies as kink-friendly will have experience with clients having diverse sexual preferences and will likely be nonjudgmental and supportive about issues brought to the table. It is important to note that sex-positive, kink-allied individuals may find equal success with therapists who do not have such specialised knowledge and background. The most important factor in the success of therapy is for the client and practitioner to form a strong, trusting bond.
Do therapists have special training to gain expertise in sex-positive, kink-allied treatment?
Generally, no. There are limited training programs and unofficial accreditations that therapists can pursue, but a therapist’s expertise will ultimately come from their previous experience with similar clients, their engagement with organisations that promote sex positivity or kink-allied lifestyles, and the importance they place on safety and cultural sensitivity.
How can individuals recognise a good sex-positive, kink-allied therapist?
An experienced therapist is able to help clients explore their sexual identity and expression and relieve any discomfort or stigma attached to discussing such matters and the client’s overall challenges. A therapist who is sex-positive and kink-allied is able to create an environment that honors a client’s experience and sexual preferences. To recognise a good therapist, clients can simply ask directly about topics and issues important to them and gauge their comfort level and connection with a clinician based on the responses.
Can clients benefit from having a therapist with a focus on sex positivity and alternative sexual lifestyles?
Some individuals may feel most comfortable knowing that the clinician they’re working with has a commitment to creating an atmosphere of sex positivity and has experience with relationship diversity and alternative relationship structures. Working with a sex-positive, kink-allied therapist may help clients respect their own challenges and improve identity-affirming treatment.
