You may be feeling stuck in patterns or emotions you don’t fully understand. This includes feeling emotionally reactive, constantly on edge, or exhausted from trying to manage everything. If past experiences continue to present in your thoughts, emotions, or body, therapy can help. I offer a warm, thoughtful, and non-judgmental space where you can slow down, be understood, and begin making sense of what you’re experiencing. My approach is collaborative and grounded. I take the time to understand your story, the patterns that have shaped you, and what you want to be different moving forward.

Let's connect! I'm happy you landed on my profile, and I welcome you into therapy without judgment. Who needs more judgment in our lives? No one! I give a 110% percent in each session because I care, and you matter. I am intrigued by life narratives and have always been drawn to helping others succeed. Becoming a mom at the age of 16 opened my eyes to the struggles that exist and the necessity of support in our lives. You don't need to travel these back roads alone!

Are you open to new possibilities? In order to understand who you want to be, you have to know who you are first. Gain insight and awareness into your situation, and learn to extract the lessons from your past struggles to develop new ways of coping and managing the challenges in your life. From early on, people learn behaviors to protect themselves for survival — but what worked in the past may no longer be helpful today. When basic human needs aren’t met, the outcome is often depression, anxiety, relationship conflict, or even addiction.

My current practice includes assessment and therapy for schizophrenia and psychosis, mood and adjustment issues (grief/loss, depression, Bipolar Disorder), anxiety issues, obsessive-compulsive patterns (OCD), trauma and stress, sleep issues, addictions, anger management, and relationship issues, including challenges related to separation and divorce.
I believe that psychology is a tool for solving problems and working through change. In my career, I have helped many people 'get unstuck', overcoming emotional difficulties and working through trauma, grief, and loss. I also regularly work with couples and families, helping with challenges including marital conflict and parenting difficulties. My approach is integrative, and tailored to each person that I meet. I draw upon a number of evidenced-based approaches, including emotion-focused therapy, psychodynamic therapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy, experiential therapy, and solution-focused therapy.

What’s the most effective treatment for psychosis?
The most effective treatment for psychosis is coordinated specialty care. In this model, a team of professionals works with a patient to address all aspects of the underlying disorder. This approach incorporates individual or group therapy, employment and education support, family support and education, medication management (which often involves low doses of antipsychotics), and case management to facilitate problem-solving as needed.

When should people seek treatment for psychosis?
People should seek immediate treatment at the earliest indication of psychosis. Symptoms include delusions, hallucinations, disorganized or blocked speech, and agitated body movements. Early signs that a person may be developing a disorder that will lead to psychosis include suspiciousness of others, memory problems and distractibility, an inability to think clearly, rapid or nonsensical speech, withdrawal from friends or family, aggression toward others, and sensitivity to bright lights or noises.

What if psychosis is left untreated?
Without treatment, psychosis can have significant repercussions, including injuries, job loss, homelessness, financial or legal trouble, ruptured relationships, and suffering for the person and their family. While early treatment for psychosis often yields the best results, there is no point past which it becomes useless to seek treatment. At any point, treatment can make a difference.

How do I get someone else to seek treatment for psychosis?
It’s extremely difficult to watch a loved one suffer from hallucinations, delusions, and other elements of psychosis—sometimes exacerbated by their fears of treatment. Have a conversation with them in a quiet space and maintain a calm, supportive tone. Share your concerns about behaviors you’ve observed, suggest treatment, and explain the potential benefits. Listen carefully to their responses. The person may not be ready after one conversation, but with time, they may come around.
