Hey there! Welcome :) I specialize in the very big spectrum of disordered eating/ED and related issues. Maybe you're tired of being stuck counting calories, body checking, and not feeling great about yourself? These things can take up a lot of thought time and be emotionally painful and I suspect you will know exactly what I mean by that. So, if your looking for a new perspectives and hoping to get some mind space back and feel better you're in the right spot.

I focus my work in anxiety (all kinds) and compulsive disorders (
OCD
, BDD, Trichotillomania).
It can be hard to step into life the way you want when struggling with painful thoughts, emotions, or experiences. Asking for help takes courage and I work hard to provide a safe and authentic space to support you. I am passionate about working with people who feel hijacked by their thoughts and emotions, and with couples who are finding it difficult to feel securely connected. In therapy we work collaboratively so that you can gain new insight, experience peace, and find creative, workable ways to tackle difficult behavioural, emotional, or interpersonal problems.

I'm Dr. Lisa Pascal and I'm a child psychologist who specializes in the treatment of moderate to severe mental health challenges including
OCD
, anxiety disorders, and challenging behaviours. Having suffered from anxiety, perfectionism, and
obsessive
compulsive behaviours myself, I understand the toll mental health challenges can take. Luckily I came across acceptance and commitment therapy and my whole life changed! Now I'm super passionate about helping children and teens live a meaningful life using these techniques. Although my passion is working with youth, I believe parents play a large role in the treatment process too.

I have extensive training treating
Obsessive
Compulsive Disorder.
People are often at a point in life where they realize that change needs to occur in order to promote psychological well being. I work with clients to identify their unique skills and facilitate change at their own pace. I offer services to children, teens, adults, and the elderly.
The statement that drives my life view is: "Life is colourful and constantly changing." Nature appears to attest to this philosophy as well with the four seasons of colors and changes. With every season, life (and death) ebbs and flows, always towards what is to come...whatever that may be.

I believe that when young people feel seen and heard, anything is possible! Given my training, I specialize in working with clients who are looking for support in navigating
OCD
, anxiety, neurodiversity, trauma, and gender and sexuality.
Waitlist Until September 2023. When it comes to working with children, youth, and young adults, the most common story I hear is that they do not feel seen or understood. Many young people I work with state that they feel trapped within their own body and mind. Without feeling safe, they are stuck in a continuous loop of fight or flight responses which can lead to meltdowns, school avoidance, and risk taking behaviours. Understanding that they are doing the best they can, I aim to help young people find safety and connection so that they can thrive within systems that do not always support living outside the “standard box.”

Hair pulling
and
skin picking
can be very challenging to manage independently - they are highly complex behaviours. Often these Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviours (BFRBs) result in shame and guilt. They can be isolating and worrisome. You may feel alone, but you are not. I specialize in treating BFRBs. I also regularly work with clients who have anxiety, obsessions and compulsions (
OCD
), impulsivity, and individuals who lack confidence (work, studies, relationships). As a Clinical Psychologist (22 years), my approach will help you to experience positive change in the short-term, and learn how to sustain this change in the long-term.

How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.
What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.
Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine, fluoxetine, and sertraline, among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.
Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
