My practices evolved over time but always followed through the line of trauma. I work with kids as young as four up until whatever age they want to continue therapy. I am fortunate enough to have a very formative experience in EMDR,
IFS
, IFIO, and Clinical Hypnosis to address the needs of my clients. As a psychologist, I believe that to have good mental health, the individual must be treated as the whole person. So, I integrate the mind and body into my practice to help my clients to overcome depression, anxiety, grief, stress, mood disorders, and PTSD. I also proudly offer NeurOptimal Neurofeedback for brain training.

Drawing from Internal
Family Systems
, in a non-pathologizing and evidence-based format, we would uncover ways of being with and healing the challenges you are facing both internally and externally.
Hi! It’s nice to “meet” you here and I would love to hear your story. Being a human is hard; Whether you are looking for support with a specific mental health challenge, feeling stuck in life, or just not like yourself, I aim to be authentically human with you. While I believe strategies have their place in therapy, my primary focus lies in how we relate to and make meaning about what challenges us. My clients and I find that with a deep and compassionate understanding of these nuances, we do not have to try so hard at, or "practice" our healing, rather it flows from a place of self confidence, clarity, and love.

For clients who are looking for a more integrative approach to therapy connecting mind, body, soul, I draw from various somatic psychology approaches including: The Hakomi Method, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and Internal
Family Systems
Therapy.
My training is varied, and I work in an integrative way, connecting mind, body, and soul. My perspective on helping and healing draws from a blend of psychology approaches as well as a variety of complementary and alternative philosophies, such as mindfulness. A key foundation of all the work is based in trauma-informed practice. Being an integrative therapist and having a broad range of training is beneficial. It allows me to draw from a toolbox to develop inclusive, effective, and individualized treatment plans to best meet the needs of my clients.

IFS
(Internal

).
Don is a non-judgmental, mature, and caring therapist, specializing in services to address the unique needs and challenges of boys and men. Sometimes difficult emotions arise making you feel terrible and damaging your relationships. Depression and anxiety can persist leaving you at a loss for what to do. Perhaps you have lost enthusiasm and motivation to engage with life and battled with a sense of shame that tells you that you must not be yourself. Your son may struggle with some of the above and you are not sure what to do. These experiences and so many more are common to boys and men who often tend to suffer alone.

Using a dynamic approach, I will focus on thought with CBT, emotions with EFT, and somatic issues, cumulating and combining into
IFS
work, to dislodge burdens of pain.
I work from a strength base perspective, specializing in individuals who have had early childhood trauma, with those who have C-PTSD, episodes of dissociation through to multiple personalities, personality disorders, ADHD or Autism, as well as with Couple and Family relationship issues. I seek to identify breakages in thought that produce skewed emotions undermining unity of being. Trauma dislodges us from ourselves. The disturbance / horror clients witnessed, needs to be answered and mended through revealing, liberating, and engaging their immense inner strength with competent care - which brings about release, freedom and healing.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Counsellors
What is Internal Family Systems therapy?
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.
How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.
Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.
How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
