Those who choose me to join them on their journey of self-discovery or healing may be struggling with the impacts of trauma, navigating substance abuse, or feel impacted on a daily basis due to mental health concerns or other tough situations that come up in life. I enjoy working with children, youth and adults in individual and group settings. My clients want to feel heard, seen, respected and acknowledged as the special person they are. They are looking for creative solutions, a down-to-earth approach and someone to hold space through the messiness of life as a human and all the emotions and experiences that come with it.

In my practice, I support clients who are experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, grief, ADHD, and trauma. I also offer assessment and diagnostic services (i.e. ADHD, PTSD, etc.). Life can be hard sometimes, and my clients often tell me that they have so much going on in their lives that they're struggling to manage their emotions. Many of my clients identify themselves as being helpers, caregivers, and empaths and are having a hard time finding balance in their lives. If you're tired of managing alone and want to find some peace or clarity in your life, or simply want to feel better emotionally, you've come to the right place.

Besides providing social work services & counseling to English speaking clients, I would like to use my expertise to serve Chinese. It is very beneficial to have someone who knows your culture & language to listen and to talk to. Speaking the same language can help capture the subtle cultural meanings from our conversations & lead to a deeper understanding of your needs. I am also a Regulated Immigration Consultant and can provide advice on immigration matters.

There are many reasons people may come to therapy; they might have a specific challenge or life event they are struggling with, they might be feeling stuck in certain habits and patterns that do not serve them, they may notice that past events are negatively impacting their thoughts and behaviours now, or they may want to develop a deeper understanding of who they are to engage more fully in their life and relationships. I approach this work with curiosity, compassion, respect, and humour. I believe therapy should empower people, help them to be more in control of their lives, and heal or enhance relationships with self and others.

I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist currently taking new clients. Therapy is a collaborative process that focuses on healing and increasing mental wellness. Change your unwanted behaviours into tools that will help you heal using cognitive behavioural therapy. Find your inner voice and express your experiences to those people around you with narrative therapy. For experiences that defy words, art therapy helps you to communicate those experiences, and to externalize your negative feelings and behaviours, so that you can explore and assess them safely.

Change is an inevitable part of life. When people come to therapy, they often need support to adjust to life's transitions or make intentional changes in their lives. In our work together, we will build a collaborative relationship that responds to your needs and strengths– aligning you with the goals, values, and hopes that will carry you through change. While we may spend some time understanding your past, our work will mainly be focused on building health in the present and creating the future you want.

From a young age, I knew I wanted to help others, especially those that seemed to have slipped through the cracks. I started my journey as an in-home aide where I taught life skills to children with special needs and supported their families to learn strategies to make everyday life easier for the whole family. I understand this is an uncomfortable and awkward spot you're in. I am here to ease your mind in this process and make you as comfortable as possible. My clients have told me I have a calm and confident presence. I have a deep passion for my work and I hope to project this when we meet.

Our journey in life is wrought with obstacles, twists, and turns that can feel overwhelming. Some of the barriers we face are erected by outside forces: events in our lives, identities we had no influence over, social structures we cannot dismantle on our own. Others we unwittingly create or amplify ourselves. Most of us need some help along the way. I admire the courage it takes to seek this help and I’m confident that I can effectively guide you toward improved mental health and wellbeing. Often, mental health concerns are not so much the result of distorted views of the world; the views are merely incomplete.

How can I find a therapist in Calgary?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In Canada, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or province where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

How much does therapy cost?

Some forms of mental health treatment (for example, seeing a psychiatrist, or seeing a psychologist in a government-funded hospital) are free under provincial health plans. Canadians who seek private counseling can typically expect to pay an average of $150 per session, although the actual price generally ranges between $100 and $3200 per session, depending on their location and the type of provider they select. Workplace benefits or private insurance plans often provide an annual counselling allowance, and some therapists offer sliding scale fees to clients who cannot pay full price.
