I work with individual adults and adolescents, families and couples using a client-centred, mindfulness approach.
Life can be tricky. There can be challenge and triumph or disappointment and regret. These ups and downs can lead to a collection of past hurts which cause you to feel misunderstood, overwhelmed, hopeless or just plain tired of dealing with others, or even with yourself. It’s ok to not be ok. You deserve relief in your life to move from just surviving toward thriving in your life.

I have considerable experience developing functional assessments and behaviour plans for both adults and children, and am available to provide this service to individuals under PDD or FSCD contracts.
I specialize in treating a variety of concerns, such as anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, behavioural concerns, substance use, and relational issues and family dynamics, using CBT, DBT, ABA, and EMDR. The type of therapy, or combination of types, that best supports your goals is chosen collaboratively, and can look different depending on what you want to achieve. I work with some populations that may require a more specialized approach, including individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities, first responders or public safety personnel, and individuals with acquired brain injuries.

I specialize in understanding the difficulties, stressors, and experiences involved in the perinatal and postpartum period of new parenthood. The process of fertility, loss, pregnancy and postpartum can be isolating. Those times also bring considerable physical, mental, and personal relationship changes, impacting every part of life. Navigating relationships, self-esteem, stress, burnout, depression, anxiety, and trauma is not unique to new parenthood. I also have a focus on young adults and professionals in the medical field, who frequently face intense and exhausting challenges

Kids do not have the ability to communicate the way adults do, but they know how to play.
Are you a parent? Does your child/youth struggle with anxiety, managing big feelings, managing their busy bodies? Do you feel like they are closing off? Do you feel like there is a meltdown every other day? Have the effects of COVID-19 taken a toll on your family? You may find yourself wondering how best to support your kid when half the time you don’t even know what’s going on. You are not alone. Many parents feel at a loss with their kids from time to time. And I don’t blame you! There’s no instruction manual to parenting. Counselling provides a safe space for kids to explore, express, and understand.

With specialization in supporting adults and adolescents struggling with low self-esteem, anxiety, and depression, as well as couples stuck in problem dynamics my practice is geared toward providing a safe, compassionate atmosphere in which you'll feel empowered to explore and get to the core of the patterns holding you back.
Would you like to feel motivated by life? Cultivate genuine, loving relationships? Feel comfortable in your skin, regardless of what life throws your way? Well you’re certainly not alone! Connection, self-esteem, and self-actualization have all been identified as human needs—essential to our mental health and well-being. Unfortunately, certain emotional, behavioural, or relational patterns can act as barriers to these needs, quelling our personal growth, and leaving us confined to oppressive cycles of anxiety and distress. Relate to any or all of the above? I think we all can—and perhaps I can help.

I work with adults and couples, tailoring my approach to your specific needs, to reach your counselling goals.
This past few years have been challenging both physically and mentally. You may have noticed an increase in your levels of stress, anxiety, or depression and a decrease in your abilities to cope with everything that's going on in the world. Your relationship may have deteriorated due to external stressors and spending too much time together in close quarters. If you can relate to any of the above statements, you aren't alone, and the good news is that you don't have to face it on your own.

We are all travellers seeking a safe harbour of love, meaning, and fulfillment. But as the journey continues, we sometime bruise our emotions and self-confidence on the randomness of life. We start to doubt ourselves, our ability, our uniqueness, and even our self-worth. Sound familiar? I am passionate about helping adults and mature minors (age 16 and up) free themselves from their own limiting beliefs about what they can or cannot do, from old stories of who they are are and how they "should" be in the world, from past trauma that interferes with moving forward, and from false fears that create invisible traps and roadblocks.

I work with adults (18+) & my area of focus is Women's Mental Health.
Hello and Welcome! Did you know that research shows that your relationship with your therapist is one of the strongest predictors of positive outcomes in therapy? That’s why before we do anything else, I make it a priority to take the time to get to know you, understand what matters to you, and to create a space where you feel safe and comfortable enough to share your concerns with me. Seeking help for your mental health is a big and vulnerable step to take and I consider it a privilege to hear your story and share in your journey to personal growth and wellness.

How can I find a therapist in Calgary?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In Canada, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or province where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

How much does therapy cost?

Some forms of mental health treatment (for example, seeing a psychiatrist, or seeing a psychologist in a government-funded hospital) are free under provincial health plans. Canadians who seek private counseling can typically expect to pay an average of $150 per session, although the actual price generally ranges between $100 and $3200 per session, depending on their location and the type of provider they select. Workplace benefits or private insurance plans often provide an annual counselling allowance, and some therapists offer sliding scale fees to clients who cannot pay full price.
