For most of my career, I have been working in various school divisions, helping children and their families navigate their world with ADHD ( attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), anxiety, depression, autism, grief and trauma.
Raising my own neuro-diverse teenagers has only enhanced my passion to help children and youth thrive in often turbulent times. I take a relational and collaborative approach to help strengthen their relationships with themselves and their family. Utilizing fun and creative tools, I make therapy more engaging and comfortable to share one’s story.

I specialize in working with adult women suffering with symptoms of perimenopause and menopause, and/or symptoms of ADHD.
I provide interventions and skills-training to help overcome the suffering that can go with menopause and/or ADHD. My background as a research scientist helped during my lived experience of a late ADHD diagnosis during my difficult perimenopause years. I used those learnings and my psychology training to pivot professionally so I can help women live well.

As a Psychologist diagnosed with ADHD, I take pride in my ability to support others who are feeling isolated, different, or feel they are not measuring up to those they compare themselves too.
I recognize that it may be difficult to speak to someone about your concerns - know that my job is to listen and help but never to judge. I work with children, teens and adults, to support all of life's challenges ranging from low self esteem, lack of confidence, suicidal ideation, shame, self harm, anxiety, depression and life adjustment. I use EMDR, CBT, IFS, and narrative therapy to support my clients. In sessions with me, you can expect genuineness, humor, and compassion as we practice different strategies. I approach therapy the way I want my therapist to be there for me, from a place of equality and guided discovery together.

I work with teens, youth and adults experiencing depression, suicidal thoughts, self-harm, anxiety, ADHD and trauma related challenges like PTSD and borderline personality disorder.
My clients are wanting more than awareness and insight from therapy. They want to “do” things differently and leave session with tools and strategies to use in their everyday lives. My clients describe feeling different, alone and like they don’t quite fit in. They have heard a lifetime of “you’re so sensitive, too much and not enough”.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
