When it comes to living, life can be full of stressors, disappointments, changes, challenges and losses that can cause a range of emotional, mental and physical responses. In therapy, I take the approach that all experiences, both internal and external, can create opportunity for growth, fulfillment and greater meaning. Counselling services can range from short-term solution focus treatment to longer-term therapy/analysis. The treatment plan will depend on your individual needs, the preferred outcome, your ability/willingness to access services and ultimately, the best course of treatment for your unique situation.

It's not always easy to navigate life's challenges alone. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed by difficult emotions, wanting to make a change and don’t know where to start, or struggling to cope with unexpected events, reaching out for help can be a powerful act of self-care and courage. That's where I come in. I work through a holistic lens combined with scientific, evidence-based interventions, to help you reach your unique goals. I believe that each person possesses their own strengths and gifts, but sometimes we are blinded by past experiences or current challenges.

I am a clinical psychologist who works with individuals and couples. Some have been struggling for a long time while others have lost their footing in the face of recent life stress. Change and growth happen when individuals feel that they are taken seriously, understood, accepted, and supported. In this context, my clients become more open, aware, and honest about the full range of their thoughts and feelings. Hope and courage grow as they face life's challenges. They learn new, flexible, and effective ways to think and respond, alter unhelpful patterns in relationships, and gain greater self-acceptance and resilience.

For me, well-being comes from the knowledge that no matter what life throws at you, you have the tools you need to courageously and compassionately face it. It comes from knowing that you have the strength and ability to cope with any uncertainty. And, we can face and get through anything when we know how to support ourselves. Many of us were not taught the skills or given the tools we need to get through life’s challenges. Nor were we taught how to treat ourselves in a loving, supportive way. We can change this.

Having difficulties coping with life responsibilities? Perhaps you have already tried several methods to manage stressors, but still find yourself feeling anxious, clashing with others, doubting or even being overly critical of yourself. You don't have to struggle alone anymore. All it takes is a little courage and the willingness to be vulnerable. As your counsellor, I would be honoured to provide you with a compassionate space to explore these personal issues. Together, we can create solutions that are unique to your personality, aspirations, values, cultural upbringing and life circumstances.

My experience lies in working with relational issues including infidelity, anxiety, depression, grief, body image,
self esteem
, chronic pain, C-PTSD, and PTSD.
I acknowledge that the path to healing can be, at the best of times, uncomfortable and commend your courage in taking the first step. I believe that by getting to know our inner conflict through the willingness and permission to let it bubble to the surface, the emotions that once hindered us may become the same emotions that set us free.

Your journey is unique, and your therapy should be tailored to your needs and experiences. You can bring your whole self to our time together - laughter, tears, anger, joy, or grief, and the many layers of yourself. You want to be seen and heard, for someone to understand how much you've been through, and how desperately you want things to change. I support both individuals and couples, and specialize in supporting people in the queer community, neurodivergent folks, as well as those navigating stress, anxiety, and those nurturing their self-esteem and overcoming people pleasing patterns. All are welcome!

Are you tired of your anxiety? Do your worries interfere with your work, school, or relationships? Maybe you feel drained, distant, or exhausted from working so hard to keep everything together. You wish you could relax and quiet your inner critic but there’s always something else to do or pay attention to. I understand how hard it can be to spin in a cycle of stress and shame. You don’t have to stay stuck feeling run down, trapped, or angry. You can enjoy today instead of rehearsing the future or replaying the past. I passionately help folks struggling with anxiety, grief, self-esteem and family conflict to find new ways of being.

Hello! Throughout my professional life I have had the opportunity to work with children, teenagers and adults who have struggled with issues such as grief and loss, depression and suicidal ideation, anxiety, interpersonal relationship difficulties, and self-esteem issues. I take a relaxed and non-judgmental approach in working with clients, in hopes that therapy will be as comfortable and organic as possible. I recognize that struggling from time to time is an inevitable part of life, and sometimes you just need a little bit of outside help, or a different perspective, while you work through the tough times.

I am passionate about working with adult individuals who struggle with PTSD and trauma, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, co-dependency, stress management, and relationship issues. Generally, my clients are functioning quite well in their day-to-day lives, but negative thought patterns and behaviours (which may have served them in the past, but no longer are) tend to get in the way of their ability to cope with work, relationships, etc.

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?
When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.
What are the signs of low self-esteem?
Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.
What causes low self-esteem?
Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.
How can therapy improve self-esteem?
Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
