My areas of specialty include
anxiety
, depression, stress, and motivation.
I strive to meet my clients where they are at, and to help them achieve the changes they seek. I believe that under the right circumstances, clients have the capacity to look inward, to free themselves from feeling stuck in the past, and to find new ways to move forward. This often requires hard work, but growth and change are possible when clients are given a safe space to explore unhelpful patterns of thinking and learn to think in healthier ways. By clarifying their personal meaning, clients can be empowered to choose new directions in life.

Depression and
anxiety
show up in many different ways in our life.
In my practice, I help clients process their difficult emotions. When we feel depressed or anxious, we haven't processed our underlying emotions and therefore have difficulties understanding our needs. I help people tune into themselves at a deeper level to create better self-understanding, which then leads to long-standing change. People see me if they are experiencing difficulties with relationships, depression,
anxiety
, parenting, prenatal/postpartum
anxiety
or depression, emotions, confidence, stress management, or a general feeling that they can't cope. I am a registered Psychologist with more than 10 years of experience working with adults and children.

, his primary aim is to guide people in their quest to find meaning and lasting happiness in their lives.
Wahab is one of the few professors and therapists in the country with expertise in Post-Psychedelic Therapy combined with therapies that include mindfulness and meditation. He has been consistently ranked as one of the most inspirational professors by students over the last 6 years. Originally trained as a cognitive neuroscientist, he decided to pivot to the clinical field when his scholarly work led him to discover the rich history of psychedelic-assisted therapy. He subsequently created and taught his most popular course: Psychedelics, Meditation, & Spirituality and now offers Post-Psychedelic Therapy in his clinical practice.

My passions include
anxiety
, people-pleasing, boundary setting, self-esteem/confidence, shame and guilt, stress and burnout, emotional regulation, school and work related challenges, post-secondary student life, life transitions, and relationship difficulties.
I respect that everyone experiences life differently, coming to therapy with their own story. At times, the voice that tells the story is self-criticizing and judgemental, making us feel powerless. My hope for our work together is that you come back to yourself and recognize your inherent strength and capacity for growth. I will meet you in a space of authenticity and vulnerability as we explore your inner world and help you feel more connected to your mind and body. My practice is focused on helping you develop a stronger connection to self, others, and the world around you.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
