Motherhood can be overwhelming and complex, bringing out your greatest strengths and highlighting your deepest struggles. Parenting can bring up attachment wounds and traumas, leaving you feeling dysregulated, lost, and alone. As a maternal mental health specialist, my goal is to compassionately support women to become more grounded and empowered, while finding connection and healing for themselves and their families. I work with clients to shift generational patterns, understand internalized pressures, become more present, and reclaim wellness for themselves and their families. You deserve to thrive, not just survive.

It is important as women and mothers we take the steps to care for ourselves, as we are being pulled in many directions throughout the day. As a parent , I was young, unprepared, and unsupported in challenges that I faced. This has led to my interest in supporting women and parents in their journey. I strive to empower all women to recognize the expectations that society places are not all attainable. You cannot be all of the things, all of the time, and it is okay to slow down and take care of you. I also specialize in working with teens and young adults who are struggling with pieces in life and transitioning to adulthood.

My passion in helping disconnected couples and families find their way back to each other. My work assists couples who seek that connection and experience of being seen, heard and deeply understood by their partner. I pay particular attention to those interactions where couples get stuck, and guide them to create more trust and safety in those moments where the "signals get scrambled'. My family therapy focus is informed by an attachment based, developmental approach. This is a parent coaching model that empowers parents/caregivers by grounding them in the science of attachment while providing "in the moment" strategies.

It is possible to find yourself again and find joy & connection in your parenting journey.
Motherhood can be both exhausting & magical. Sometimes it is portrayed in a way on social media that looks vastly different from your reality. Are you feeling overwhelmed with worry & "what-if" questions in pregnancy? Do you need to process your birth experience? Are you struggling to feel like yourself in postpartum? Do you feel like your relationship has changed since becoming a parent ? Are you burnout from the many demands of motherhood? I support women in every stage of parenthood from fertility, loss, pregnancy, postpartum, and parenting . You are not alone in these struggles & you don't have to face them alone either.

Parenting Counsellors

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
