My work is framed by the modalities of mindfulness , spiritual response therapy, IFS, & somatic (body intelligence) practices including Reiki & Reconnective Healing.
Are you feeling trapped? Stuck? Held hostage by the circumstances of your life? Do you feel like you’ve tried everything, talked to multiple therapists, gone to every alternative healer, read every book you could get your hands on, only to find you’re repeating the same patterns, dealing with the same triggers, stuck in the same job, lost in a cycle of addictions? What if I told you it didn’t have to be this way? What if I told you that healing, freedom and growth are always possible? When you learn to live with self love and connection, your Soul can truly lead, and you will see a transformation of your inner & outer worlds!

I work from a trauma-informed and mindfulness -based perspective, with a compassionate and gentle approach to trauma, addiction, grief, and relationship issues.
We all carry multiple stories about our selves, our lives, and our experiences. There are parts in our stories that are sometimes hidden from our awareness. It is in the calm noticing, re-discovery, and re-telling of our stories that we can find and connect with parts of ourselves that may need healing, and also parts of ourselves that are insightful, strong, and brilliant even in the midst of hardship and darkness. Through facilitating, witnessing, and holding space together, we can engage in our personal work of healing. I look forward to connecting with you.

Motherhood can be both exhausting & magical. Sometimes it is portrayed in a way on social media that looks vastly different from your reality. Are you feeling overwhelmed with worry & "what-if" questions in pregnancy? Do you need to process your birth experience? Are you struggling to feel like yourself in postpartum? Do you feel like your relationship has changed since becoming a parent? Are you burnout from the many demands of motherhood? I support women in every stage of parenthood from fertility, loss, pregnancy, postpartum, and parenting. You are not alone in these struggles & you don't have to face them alone either.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Counsellors

How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behaviour through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviours and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioural habits.
