I know that life is full of highs and lows, and sometimes hope can be hard to find. Are you struggling to figure out what is going on inside of you or why you feel the way you do? Does it feel like you’ve tried everything to fix what feels broken, but you're stuck? Are you reaching for something that feels just out of reach? You don’t have to do it alone.

I am a Clinical Psychologist with over 10 years of experience in the public health system. Clients often come to me for help with depression, anxiety, relationship problems, or life transitions. Over time, we may explore deeper underlying issues, such as emotion suppression, relationship patterns, low self-esteem, or “unfinished business” from the past. I also have a great deal of experience with trauma-focused therapy- many of my clients struggle with PTSD. My goal is to help my clients develop better self-awareness, understand their difficulties, recognize their strengths, and learn ways to live more effective, meaningful lives.

Thanks for taking the time to view my profile. Therapy is a collaborative process that uses curiosity, courage and compassion to start exploring and unpacking all of the parts of ourselves and our experiences so that we can become connected to our wholeness once again. There are times when we may feel haunted by our past experiences, are having difficulties coping with life transitions or stressors, or are feeling stuck. It is my belief that through gentle exploration we can start to find the inner resources needed to move through and grow from these difficult experiences.

We all carry multiple stories about our selves, our lives, and our experiences. There are parts in our stories that are sometimes hidden from our awareness. It is in the calm noticing, re-discovery, and re-telling of our stories that we can find and connect with parts of ourselves that may need healing, and also parts of ourselves that are insightful, strong, and brilliant even in the midst of hardship and darkness. Through facilitating, witnessing, and holding space together, we can engage in our personal work of healing. I look forward to connecting with you.

I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist currently taking new clients. Therapy is a collaborative process that focuses on healing and increasing mental wellness. Change your unwanted behaviours into tools that will help you heal using cognitive behavioural therapy. Find your inner voice and express your experiences to those people around you with narrative therapy. For experiences that defy words, art therapy helps you to communicate those experiences, and to externalize your negative feelings and behaviours, so that you can explore and assess them safely.

From a young age, I knew I wanted to help others, especially those that seemed to have slipped through the cracks. I started my journey as an in-home aide where I taught life skills to children with special needs and supported their families to learn strategies to make everyday life easier for the whole family. I understand this is an uncomfortable and awkward spot you're in. I am here to ease your mind in this process and make you as comfortable as possible. My clients have told me I have a calm and confident presence. I have a deep passion for my work and I hope to project this when we meet.

Hello! Throughout my professional life I have had the opportunity to work with children, teenagers and adults who have struggled with issues such as grief and loss, depression and suicidal ideation, anxiety, interpersonal relationship difficulties, and self-esteem issues. I take a relaxed and non-judgmental approach in working with clients, in hopes that therapy will be as comfortable and organic as possible. I recognize that struggling from time to time is an inevitable part of life, and sometimes you just need a little bit of outside help, or a different perspective, while you work through the tough times.

Let me guess: you've been scrolling through pages of potential therapists and every profile is starting to sound the same. You can see that there are hundreds of amazing, qualified people to help you, but what you are looking for is someone that you connect with on a personal level. I'm Allegra (pronounced Ah-lee-gra) and I am the founder of Kindred Roots - a practice that is redefining traditional therapy. I believe that a successful therapeutic relationship is built on trust, authentic connection and clients seeing me as a real person, not a clinical robot. My ideal client is not based on a problem but rather on personality.

Loss, trauma, life changes, illness, or relational problems can cause difficulties that impact one's quality of life. Although time can sometimes help, meaningful resolution of problems and personal growth takes place within the context of a supportive relationship. Quality of life and contentment increase as the ability to process issues develops. I help my clients resolve emotional difficulties related to life circumstances and struggles with family, friends or co-workers. Building on current areas of strength and, when necessary, tackling new areas of competence we work together to rebuild or develop your sense of inner strength.

How can I find a therapist in Southeast Calgary, Calgary?
Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the United States and Canada, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
