My practices evolved over time but always followed through the line of trauma. I work with kids as young as four up until whatever age they want to continue therapy. I am fortunate enough to have a very formative experience in EMDR, IFS, Hypnotherapy and Neurofeedback training to address the needs of my clients. As a psychologist, I believe that to have good mental health, the individual must be treated as the whole person. So, I integrate the mind and body into my practice to help my clients to overcome depression, anxiety , grief, stress, mood disorders, and PTSD.

Whether you are looking for better ways to manage or reduce stress, manage anxiety , improve your relationships or to recover from trauma, I am here to work with you as a partner on your journey.
Everyone struggles with certain things at different times in their lives. Mental wellness is a journey, not a destination and we are all at different points along the path. Sometimes, we need help guiding our steps and knowing how best to keep going. My ideal client may be struggling with issues related to anxiety , depression, relationships, trauma or personality disorders. Generally, they realize that things in their life are just not working and they want to learn new ways of behaving, thinking and relating to themselves and others to make lasting changes. My practice with clients is collaborative and supportive.

I have worked with a variety of clients over the years, and each one has taught me valuable lessons about the human experience. Since becoming a mother, I have realized the importance of helping birthing and non-birthing partners navigate the perinatal period (fertility journey, pregnancy, postpartum) and the early years of parenting. I help clients during this period of their life focus on alleviating depression, anxiety , fears and worries regarding childbirth and parenting, intrusive thoughts, as well as processing birth trauma, and dealing with life transitions after having a baby.

Whether you are struggling with anxiety or looking to know yourself on a deeper, core level, art therapy may be a good fit for you.
Looking for something different? Maybe traditional talk therapy wasn’t working for you. Art therapy utilizes creative expression – in any way you want and need it – to further explore thoughts and emotions. Combining counselling and art therapy, we are making the internal, external in a tangible way. Sometimes words aren’t enough to depict exactly how we are feeling, and that’s where art comes in.We have been using art throughout history to express trauma, events, and emotions.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
