May I join you on your journey? I work with individual
adults
and provide a safe and accepting space where you can be you.
Sometimes life doesn’t go as planned. You may have started well, pursing an education and career, and on a path that seemed so clear and hopeful. However, you may have lost your passion for what you do, or find that life no longer has meaning or purpose like it once did. Perhaps failure and regret are dragging you down, or you just feel stuck and can’t seem to break free. Maybe you have pain that just doesn’t seem to heal, or you are worried about your life, loved ones, and all the things going on in the world. Deep down inside, you know you were meant for more, but you don’t know what that is or how to get there.

This past few years have been challenging both physically and mentally. You may have noticed an increase in your levels of stress, anxiety, or depression and a decrease in your abilities to cope with everything that's going on in the world. Your relationship may have deteriorated due to external stressors and spending too much time together in close quarters. If you can relate to any of the above statements, you aren't alone, and the good news is that you don't have to face it on your own.

It can be frustrating and confusing when life looks good on the outside but doesn’t feel good on the inside; feeling tired, overwhelmed and disconnected from the things you worked so hard to have. Therapy may seem like one more thing to do in an already busy life, but there is a part of you that knows it could make a difference by helping you feel more confident, connected, present, energetic, successful, clear-headed, and fun. As a Ph.D. level Clinical Psychologist, I have spent the past 10 years successfully treating
adults
with depression, anxiety, OCD, insomnia, perfectionism, life stress, and relationship difficulties.

Our children are faced with an increasingly complex world that they are navigating alone. Parents describe feeling disconnected from their children and teens and young people describe feeling misunderstood by their parents. The impact of this is significant with more and more young people feeling anxious, paralyzed, and in deep despair. I can help you to better understand your child, their behaviour and the difficulties they are facing. Through learning what your child's emotional needs are and how to meet these needs you and your child will be better equipped to navigate this difficult world together.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In Canada, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or province where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
How much does therapy cost?
Some forms of mental health treatment (for example, seeing a psychiatrist, or seeing a psychologist in a government-funded hospital) are free under provincial health plans. Canadians who seek private counseling can typically expect to pay an average of $150 per session, although the actual price generally ranges between $100 and $3200 per session, depending on their location and the type of provider they select. Workplace benefits or private insurance plans often provide an annual counselling allowance, and some therapists offer sliding scale fees to clients who cannot pay full price.
