Are you a little different? Queer or Trans? ADHDer? Autistic spouse? Survivor of Religious Trauma? Maybe you have a specific set of unique personalities in your family. Maybe you have a bunch of labels but what you really want to talk about is being lonely. Maybe you've never found someone who really acknowledged that thinking your way through your problems doesn't work. Your problems don't fit in a neat little category, and you don't have a nice little summary of who you are, where you came from, and what is ailing you. Guess what? That's exactly how therapy starts: with the best pieces of you all tangled up with fear and shame.

Usually we can muddle our way through most of what life throws our way without much difficulty. But sometimes we can't, at least not as effectively as we would like. And sometimes big things happen that we need help with. I've been working with individuals, couples, teens, and families since 1995 on a variety of issues including relationship concerns, trauma - past and present, anxiety and stress, abuse, addictions, bullying, depression, parenting, sex and sexuality, transitions, and losses. I've also worked with people who are simply interested in personal growth.

At a certain point in life, many of us begin to feel the weight of everything they’ve carried—the hurts, the expectations, the endless giving. You may sense it’s time to finally understand your story, to heal what still lingers, and to reconnect with the parts of yourself you’ve had to set aside. I offer a space where you can slow down, feel seen, and begin to make sense of your experiences with compassion and curiosity. Together, we’ll explore the patterns and pain that have shaped you, while opening space for growth, self-acceptance, and a renewed sense of wholeness. Healing is possible—and you don’t have to do it alone.

In our work together, I’ll help you:
Find relief from the constant survival mode that keeps you exhausted.
Break free from guilt and shame tied to addiction or coping strategies.
Untangle the painful beliefs you were handed by parents, partners, or others who hurt you.
Learn how to feel safe in your own body and trust yourself again.
I bring a mix of tools and approaches into sessions, but at the heart of it, my style is real, down-to-earth, and compassionate. I believe you are not defined by your past or the choices you had to make to get through it. You are allowed to step into a version of yourself that feels whole and free.

Hi there! Being able to validate emotions; normalize the messy experience that is being a human; model compassion; and help people gain deeper insights into their inner worlds (ie. thoughts, feelings) are the foundational pieces of therapy I enjoy most. It truly is an honour to hear people's stories. When life gets chaotic or when everything seems so dark, I will hold space and help you learn ways to navigate strong emotions, reconnect with your body and manage unhelpful thoughts.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
