I’m Mina Makkar, a Registered Clinical Counsellor based in Surrey, BC. With over 25 years of experience, I have worked with children, families, couples, and individuals, offering a warm, inclusive space to explore challenges and build resilience. My approach is trauma-informed and attachment-based, with specialized training in CBT, EMDR, EFT, and the Gottman Method. I have a special interest in supporting neurodivergent clients, including those with ADHD and Autism. I offer flexible scheduling—including evenings and weekends—and direct billing to many insurance providers. Sliding scale options are available as well.
I am an Extended Health, ICBC, CVAP, and FNHA approved counselor. I approach counselling from an attachment and trauma-informed lens. Over the years, I have gained experience and training in using various therapeutic approaches, such as EMDR, EFT, Somatic, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Narrative, and Art Therapy.
I aim to ensure that all individuals enter a warm, supportive, and safe environment where they can share personal experiences without fear of judgment. I hold myself to high ethical standards and aim to create a safe, informed, and supportive environment for individuals from all walks of life. Services are offered in-person in Surrey or virtually in BC.
