Most of us are yearning for more out of life and our relationships. We yearn for more freedom, more choice, more love, more adventure, more willingness to risk, more contribution, more peace, more belonging. Clients say that as a result of seeing me for therapy, they experience themselves as having a renewed sense of purpose, direction, more freedom, peace, energy, vitality and a stronger connection to their own life force. I am unique from others in my field because I have devoted my life to learning how to help my clients actually transform what is holding them back rather than just talking about it.

I always have been drawn to uncovering the complex ways we are impacted the experiences in our lives. In particular the impact of trauma on our resilience and on our 'stuck' places. Our bodies carry the weight of our histories and the histories we inherit. In reprocessing trauma it is necessary for us to be attuned to these somatic experiences and to foster the wisdom stored within our bodies.

A digital group for men to get together and talk about the challenges they are facing.
As my mentors have helped me in my life, and as they have guided me through difficult points of self-growth and reflection, I have come to learn the value of being there for others to progress through our own difficult times. We need each other. I do believe it is far less problematic to overcome challenges with guidance and direction. Even more so when that guidance is refined through education, experience, and a standardized expectation of practice. I am capable of direct billing for ICBC and CVAP and can be accepted through other insurance agencies (i.e. Sunlife, BlueCross, GreenShield)

Are you having trouble sleeping? Feeling anxious and experiencing pained body & sadness that wont go away? Trauma can lead one's body to develop a sense of hyper-vigilance. This is when one becomes continually tensed, as though the body is “braced” awaiting threats to happen. Ongoing patterns of stress & tension can manifest as chronic pain/fatigue, digestive issues, hormonal imbalances, PTSD-anxiety, insomnia, sexual and/or immune system dysfunctions. The intention of Somatic Therapy is to enhance your capacity to self heal by freeing the body, breath & energy flow through the practice of self awareness and self-compassion.

Do memories from your childhood still bring up pain or confusion in your life today as an adult? Do you find it hard to build close relationships, feeling held back by self-doubt? As a licensed trauma therapist and someone who has walked this challenging path myself, I specialize in helping adults and teens who grew up feeling overwhelmed or misunderstood by their caregivers find healing and reconnect with their true selves. I deeply understand childhood trauma's impact through firsthand experience. Together, we will work on building self-compassion, creating healthier relationships, and cultivating a life of peace and fulfillment.
Group starting 2025: Psychodynamic therapy groups are recommended for people interested in creating deeper changes within themselves and their relationships. They are similar to support groups, in which members are encouraged to connect and share their personal lives and mental health/relational challenges. The groups also involve members sharing how they experience each other, along with any emotions that may arise. The Monday group will start at 5:30pm PST / 8:30pm EST and will run for 80 minutes each week - please see ninajankovic.com for more information.
I offer psychodynamic group therapy, recommended for those who have grown up in invalidating/harmful environments in which they were not heard, and rarely attuned to. You may be struggling with anxiety, depression, emotion regulation, relationship difficulties, attachment injuries, heightened shame, existential questions, and have a desire to develop a better relationship with yourself along with others. Prospective psychodynamic group members have largely moved beyond immediate trauma responses and are looking to explore more deeply.
Rad Dads is a support group for dads! There's not a lot of other places in life where we can get together and talk about some of the issues that pop up in fatherhood. Some dads are new, some are vets and have been in the game for a while. This group meets online every month because we're all busy but know how important it is to connect with other like-minded dads. ? Discussions are facilitated by Dallas with a different topic each session with room for participants to ask questions and share resources with each other.

Men have particular learned difficulties with expressing emotion, asking for help, and with dealing with shame. Some of the most fulfilling work I do is helping men become more gentle; gentle with themselves, and with the others around them. When men learn how much easier life can be when they're in touch with themselves, and able to feel warmly, comfortably connected to their significant partners they often feel like 'now why didn't I learn this earlier'? You can start feeling better immediately, and growth can be very very rapid with my help.

FAQs - About Group Therapy and Support Groups
How can I find a support group in V6R?
Search for nearby support groups by inputting your city, postal code, or the name of the group into the search bar. From there, you can filter to find a group that suits your needs, whether you are looking for support for a teenager, a group that focuses on a specific issue, such as depression, or a particular program type, such as one geared toward developing social skills. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postal code into the search bar.
How does group therapy work?
Therapy groups are led by one or more therapists and serve to help people process their experiences and learn from others who understand their challenges firsthand. They can be based on a specific issue, such as addiction, grief, physical illnesses, parenting, and caregiving. They can involve a specific type of program or therapy, such as a social skills group or CBT group. They can also be specific to a particular population or community, such as teens or LGBTQ.
Support groups, like Alcoholics Anonymous, also focus on a specific issue, but are typically led by members with lived experiences and are less structured than therapy groups. Most therapy groups will meet for a fixed length of time with a consistent group of members, while many support groups meet for an indefinite period of time with members coming and going.

Most therapy groups will meet for a fixed length of time with a consistent group of members, while many support groups meet for an indefinite period of time with members coming and going.
What are the benefits of group therapy?
Support groups help connect people with shared challenges or physical and mental health conditions. In a group setting, participants can receive support and feedback from peers and can acquire new skills, strategies and perspectives by listening to one another. Discussing your experience with someone who also has a cancer diagnosis, or whose son also struggles with addiction, for example, can help you feel less alone, reduce distress, find empathy and connection, and learn practical or medical information that has helped others. Group therapy can also be a more affordable option than individual therapy and just as effective.
Is group therapy as effective as individual therapy?
Support groups can be deeply valuable for both emotional support and/or treatment outcomes. It’s difficult to make a blanket statement on efficacy due to the many different types of support groups and conditions treated, but group therapy has been found to be just as effective as individual therapy in establishing long-term abstinence for conditions such as substance abuse, addiction and alcohol abuse.
How much does group therapy cost?
Group counselling is typically less expensive than individual counselling, with each session costing on average about $90 to $100. Meanwhile, individual therapy sessions can run anywhere from $100 to $200. It is possible to find low-cost group therapy options and many therapists offer group sessions free of charge.
Does insurance cover group therapy?
If you have private insurance, your plan may cover some if not all of your group therapy sessions. You should contact your insurance provider to determine if they provide coverage for group therapy sessions and to determine what, if any, requirements they might have in order for your sessions to be covered, such as a referral from your GP or medical specialist.
How long does group therapy last?
The length of a support group session is often one hour but can fall anywhere between 45 minutes and two hours. The amount of time that people remain in a support group varies based on their specific needs and goals and the type of therapy. Some individuals may seek a shorter-term group, such as a bereavement group, that may last between six and 20 weeks. Some may seek a longer-term group that lasts for a year or indefinitely.
What are the limitations of support groups?
Support groups have many benefits, but there are a few limitations as well. Support groups do not constitute formal therapeutic or medical treatment, and are not run by licensed mental health professionals, so some people may opt for group therapy or individual therapy instead. Additionally, support groups can depend on the other participants, so a disruptive individual has the potential to mar the group dynamic, and the anecdotal information shared may sometimes be unhelpful or inaccurate. Because it is a group setting, confidentiality can be more difficult to guard and participants receive less personalized attention than they would in an individual therapy session.
