I believe in empowering individuals to live full and confident lives, and I'm excited to be a part of this support group to connect with others and foster a community of understanding and encouragement.

In general, I work with individuals who are seeking to lessen the impact that stress and anxiety has on their daily lives.
Life throws curveballs, and sometimes you just need a safe space to talk about it all. I'm a psychotherapist who believes in creating a judgment-free zone where you can be completely yourself. I bring warmth, understanding, and a touch of humor to our sessions, because sometimes, laughing at the absurdity of it all can be the most healing thing.
As we embark on this journey together, my priority is to create a space where you feel truly seen and heard. My approach centers on transparency and authentic connection.

Breathwork is the therapeutic practice of intentional breathing. It is a holistic therapy modality used to promote a stronger mind-body connection, develop deeper self awareness and explore introspectively. This event has been carefully curated to provide you with a safe and welcoming space to dive deeper in to self awareness and release what is no longer serving you. The event includes intention setting, guided conscious connected breathing, reflections and integration. This event is for all experience levels, whether you practice breathwork regularly or this will be your first time.

When our emotions feel too big for the spaces we are in, it can cause us to feel out of control or like we don’t belong. This experience is so confusing because we didn’t choose to have big emotions! We become so desperate to stop the pain that we go to great lengths to feel relief. Sometimes that ends up being through conflict with the people around us, substance use or self-harm. I want you to know that you don’t have to go through it alone anymore. I work with adults, teens, young adults and parents who are looking for meaning change.
Navigating the leap from college into “real life” can be overwhelming. It can stir up anxiety, self-doubt, and a sense of disconnection. This weekly therapy group is a space for young adults to explore the pressure to “have it all figured out”, shifts in identity, and more. Through open conversation and shared experiences we’ll explore how anxiety shows up in real time, practice tools for self-regulation, connection, and clarity, while also building insight and emotional resilience. My background is in working with college students and love providing opportunities to decrease isolation while navigating transition periods! Starts July.

As a helping professional, do you find that the emotional demands of your work are leaving you disconnected from your partner or feeling emotionally shut off? Conversations may feel tense or lacking in depth, and the intimacy you once shared seems to be slipping away. Whether you’re in a monogamous relationship or exploring Ethical Non-Monogamy (ENM), relationship challenges can feel overwhelming. Especially if you are not used to asking for help, having always held the role of a helper, or having learned that your needs will not be met no matter how hard you try to voice it. You don't have to feel alone on the path to reconnection!
In this small group we will use writing as a tool for healing in a safe and supportive virtual community space. Using writing prompts (eg. poetry, prose, imagery) drawn from various artists you will be guided gently into your own inner world of emotion, inquiry, memory, and imagination. We will write together to find our voices, explore what limits them, create inner-safety for their emergence, and give each other courage through community. No previous writing experience is necessary. We are all writers and story-tellers by virtue of our humanity. PLEASE NOTE: This group is facilitated by our amazing psychotherapy intern Allison Oke.

It seems that you may be struggling with life challenges at the moment (i.e., relationship issues, work issues, loss, etc.), or, perhaps, anxiety, unwelcome thoughts, or apathy are getting in the way of you having the life you want.
My practice is current with new scientific research on healing trauma and recognizes the importance of restoring body-mind connection. We will work collaboratively to bring attention to aspects of yourself that increase resilience helping you to disconfirm negative beliefs; try on new/more satisfying behaviours; and improve your relationships and self-worth.
Occasionally experiencing anxiety is not unusual; however, extreme or prolonged anxiety can produce negative impacts on mental, physical, and emotional health. Anxiety can also negatively influence the ability to maintain routines and function effectively in social and academic environments. Teens may experience feelings of increased tension and stress, irrational/excessive fear, repetitive thoughts, avoidance behaviours, overwhelm, and/or feelings of disconnection. The purpose of this group is to provide a safe and supportive space for teens looking to learn more about the factors sustaining their anxiety and to consider strategies for managing it. I work to provide therapeutic support to clients struggling with mental health concerns (e.g. anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, childhood trauma, grief, etc.).
Sometimes we just need someone to listen to us, and sometimes we need more than that. I am trained in a variety of evidence-based approaches that are proven to support client healing and wellness; including but not limited to, Client-Centred Therapy, EMDR, IFS, CBT, Relational and Psychodynamic therapies.
Group therapy provides a place where you come together with others to share problems or concerns, to better understand your own situation, and to learn from and with each other. You will learn about yourself and improve your relationships with other people. You will gain self-understanding and skills for dealing with your concerns. In a typical 90 minute session, members work to express their own challenges and aspirations, feelings, ideas, and reactions as freely and honestly as possible. Members learn not only to understand themselves and their own issues but also become therapeutic helpers for other group members.

Whether you are feeling anxious, depressed, having relationship issues, going through a life transition, or any other difficulty, we will explore it together.
I offer a warm, creative, down-to-earth approach that is client-focused and collaborative. I work from a trauma-informed, anti-oppressive framework. I believe in bringing light and air to the parts of ourselves that need time and space to emerge. In our increasingly fragmented world filled with smart phones and doom scrolling, we could all use some good old-fashioned connection. I bring a deep curiosity about the ways we move through the world, the stories we tell ourselves and how our relationships are affected.

It could be that you are struggling with making an important decision, experiencing difficulties in your personal/family/work relationships, or are easily overcome by stress, worry or anxiety in a world that is increasingly putting demands on your time and attention.
My work integrates: Mindfulness work, Gestalt therapy (engaging in an experiential, relational and present-centered approach), EFT Tapping (releasing unhealthy habits/patterns, fears/limiting belief), Havening Techniques (creating a safe haven for delinking encoded traumatic memories caused by stressful events and building more resilience).
Others want to define who you are as you cope with chronic and life limiting disease . Be your authentic self! Chronic or life threatening illness changes how others relate to you, with expectations of who you are or have become. Go beyond the diagnosis to rediscover your inner strengths. The group will learn skills of mindfulness, and Chi Gong movement as embodiment practice. Learn the skills of acupressure (TCM) to balance the energy flow in the meridians. The body holds the emotional impact of our individual trauma, this group will gather together to support one another while we build our strengths, emotional and physical.

Persona Doll groups are therapeutic groups for children between the age of 4 and 7. The groups allow children to interact with the therapist and a life size doll or puppet. The children are able to relate to the puppet who often has similar worries or fears. This aims to reduce children's anxiety, normalize their fears and decrease acting out behaviours. Depending on the age of the children, parents may be a part of the group to help facilitate the process. Currently running online.

These challenges can present in multiple ways including anxiety, depression, behavioural challenges, difficulty with relationships and poor school performance.
Feeling like things are not okay for ourselves or our children is overwhelming. Sometimes we need to feel heard and understood to ease the burden. Connecting with a mental health professional can pave the way to healthier interactions and relationships. Learning to attune and connect to ourselves and our children is a powerful tool for the healing journey.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
