Life is full of ups and downs, some we handle with ease, others leave us feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure where to turn. If you feel this way, you're not alone and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself. No issue is too big or small for therapy and wherever you're at, you're welcome here.Therapy is a space to feel seen, understood, and supported while exploring what’s holding you back and discovering new ways to move forward. I believe we all have the capacity to grow, heal, and step more fully into the life we want to live. Sometimes, we just need the right support and someone to show us there is hope.

The Aging with Purpose Program is designed to help individuals rediscover their sense of purpose after changes to self that occur with aging, such as retirement, loss of a partner, moving into residential living, or loss of health. Negative thoughts such as, “What do I have to contribute anymore?” commonly arise as we enter into later stages of life. Finding meaning and purpose in life and daily activities, as well as realizing important ways to contribute to and engage in the lives of others, are important goals with this program leading to an improved quality of life and increased feelings of peace and well-being.

"There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so" (Shakespeare, Hamlet). As a registered Psychologist experienced in treating a variety of mental health issues, I could not agree more. My passion is in the treatment of anxiety and anxiety-related disorders, including perinatal anxiety, excessive worry, stress, difficulty coping, insomnia, low self-esteem, perfectionism, panic, OCD, and cognitive change in aging. In today's modern world, it is easy to lose ourselves to the stresses of everyday life, which is why a strong focus of my practice is on helping clients enact change to achieve greater balance in their lives.

I work with parents either in relationship or separated, who are struggling with parenting due to relational break-down or children's behavioural issues. Co-parenting is especially tricky! I can help with strategies and ideas for how to cope, including how and when to tell children you are separating. I offer personal counselling for teens and adults struggling with anxiety and/or depression. I also provide marriage/relationship counselling. The goal is always to take steps towards respect and harmony in relationships with family and friends.

Our Professional Connections groups are designed to provide Registered Psychotherapists with a supportive environment to connect with peers, discuss cases, ask questions, and enhance their professional practice. With a maximum of 8 members per group, these sessions aid in meeting the CRPO requirements for clinical supervision hours. These hours can also be used towards the required experiential learning professional development (40 hours every two years). This group is held virtually on Zoom. Email amanda@valleyconnectionscounselling.ca to register. A primary supervisor is required, as the group facilitator does not replace this role.
