I have a sub-specialty in the psychology of sports and business. I have been the Montreal psychologist for the joint NHL-NHL Players’ Association and MLS for over twenty years. In addition, as a member of the Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychologists, I have consulted to a variety of SME’s and C-level executives across Canada
As an experienced clinical psychologist, as well as a McGill professor in Departments of both Psychology and Psychiatry, I bring a high level of competence to address your concerns. As the Psychologist-in-Chief of the Royal Victoria Hospital, for over 25 years, I established a variety of CBT programs targeting anxiety disorders and depression in addition to pioneering interventions for gambling and healthy living. Before Montreal, I worked in major university-affiliated programs in Los Angeles, Vancouver and Toronto. Working with the NHL Players' Association, I also have the privilege of counselling some great athletes and people.
We, as humans, struggle so frequently with issues related to self-esteem. Most of us question whether we are worthy, competent, and lovable. I would like to create a safe space to bring together a small group of individuals to explore these concerns in the context of acceptance and non-judgement.
We, as human beings, all face difficult times during our lives. These phases can leave us feeling out of control and isolated. The simple act of choosing change in your life can help you to feel empowered and on a path to a greater sense of well-being. As an integrative therapist (using cognitive behavioral, supportive, interpersonal and existential techniques), I will first help you to define your goals and then support you as you work towards achieving them. Using those techniques that best suit your particular needs and styles, we will effectively create a New Therapy tailored specifically for you.
This group is targeted to bring early childhood discussions into a small setting. This is a group to share specific daily issues, receive immediate feedback, hear from others and share common concerns. There is an endless list of topics that are relevant to parenting and together we will set a unique and tailored agenda suited for your group in order to bring practical tools you can easily use. No matter the age or the stage of your children there is an answer for everything and a chance to embrace the parent you truly want to be.

I have 20+ years of experience working with individuals suffering from alcohol and drug dependence and psychological problems including gambling, borderline personality disorder, anxiety and mood disorders. Until 2022 I was a staff member at the Addictions Unit of the McGill University Health Centre. I use a variety of motivational and psychological approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for individuals, couples and groups. Mindfulness-Integrated CBT techniques are particularly useful for the treatment of individuals recovering from substance dependence.
We provide a variety of psychological services including individual and group therapy, art therapy, parental coaching, psychological assessments, workshops and trainings on diversity, team building and mental health, and consulting to profits and corporations. As a specialized group, each one of us has a unique style and approach. We speak multiple languages and are trained to work online with people of all cultural backgrounds, anywhere in the world. Our team is diverse, caring, knowledgeable, and most importantly, our clinicians are licensed practitioners and our pre-licensed clinicians work under supervision.
I am trained to help adults, children, adolescents, men, women, families, and professionals better cope with a wide variety of emotional, relational and personal challenges. If you are feeling overwhelmed, out-of touch with yourself or generally unhappy and enjoy a genuine conversation with another person willing to reach out to help, than I believe we would be a good fit. I developed an eclectic and culturally sensitive approach to therapy, heavily influenced by humanistic/existential, positive psychology, CBT, and expressive art therapy.

Over the years as a helping professional I realized that people care less about clever language and elaborate techniques and more about receiving sincere love and compassion, living hope and courage, honest feedback, and new perspectives. What proved to help is having the mutual trust to explore and work on intimate, sometimes painful topics, step-by-step. Together, we invite your strengths and natural wisdom to take the steering wheel of your life, letting go of the grasp of your fears and limiting self-beliefs. Together, we also help you chose and create new habits towards a better ways of being.

FAQs - About Group Therapy and Support Groups
How can I find a support group in H3Z?
Search for nearby support groups by inputting your city, postal code, or the name of the group into the search bar. From there, you can filter to find a group that suits your needs, whether you are looking for support for a teenager, a group that focuses on a specific issue, such as depression, or a particular program type, such as one geared toward developing social skills. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postal code into the search bar.
How does group therapy work?
Therapy groups are led by one or more therapists and serve to help people process their experiences and learn from others who understand their challenges firsthand. They can be based on a specific issue, such as addiction, grief, physical illnesses, parenting, and caregiving. They can involve a specific type of program or therapy, such as a social skills group or CBT group. They can also be specific to a particular population or community, such as teens or LGBTQ.
Support groups, like Alcoholics Anonymous, also focus on a specific issue, but are typically led by members with lived experiences and are less structured than therapy groups. Most therapy groups will meet for a fixed length of time with a consistent group of members, while many support groups meet for an indefinite period of time with members coming and going.

Most therapy groups will meet for a fixed length of time with a consistent group of members, while many support groups meet for an indefinite period of time with members coming and going.
What are the benefits of group therapy?
Support groups help connect people with shared challenges or physical and mental health conditions. In a group setting, participants can receive support and feedback from peers and can acquire new skills, strategies and perspectives by listening to one another. Discussing your experience with someone who also has a cancer diagnosis, or whose son also struggles with addiction, for example, can help you feel less alone, reduce distress, find empathy and connection, and learn practical or medical information that has helped others. Group therapy can also be a more affordable option than individual therapy and just as effective.
Is group therapy as effective as individual therapy?
Support groups can be deeply valuable for both emotional support and/or treatment outcomes. It’s difficult to make a blanket statement on efficacy due to the many different types of support groups and conditions treated, but group therapy has been found to be just as effective as individual therapy in establishing long-term abstinence for conditions such as substance abuse, addiction and alcohol abuse.
How much does group therapy cost?
Group counselling is typically less expensive than individual counselling, with each session costing on average about $90 to $100. Meanwhile, individual therapy sessions can run anywhere from $100 to $200. It is possible to find low-cost group therapy options and many therapists offer group sessions free of charge.
Does insurance cover group therapy?
If you have private insurance, your plan may cover some if not all of your group therapy sessions. You should contact your insurance provider to determine if they provide coverage for group therapy sessions and to determine what, if any, requirements they might have in order for your sessions to be covered, such as a referral from your GP or medical specialist.
How long does group therapy last?
The length of a support group session is often one hour but can fall anywhere between 45 minutes and two hours. The amount of time that people remain in a support group varies based on their specific needs and goals and the type of therapy. Some individuals may seek a shorter-term group, such as a bereavement group, that may last between six and 20 weeks. Some may seek a longer-term group that lasts for a year or indefinitely.
What are the limitations of support groups?
Support groups have many benefits, but there are a few limitations as well. Support groups do not constitute formal therapeutic or medical treatment, and are not run by licensed mental health professionals, so some people may opt for group therapy or individual therapy instead. Additionally, support groups can depend on the other participants, so a disruptive individual has the potential to mar the group dynamic, and the anecdotal information shared may sometimes be unhelpful or inaccurate. Because it is a group setting, confidentiality can be more difficult to guard and participants receive less personalized attention than they would in an individual therapy session.
