Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Skills Group


This skills group is divided into four modules: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. Clients will learn skills to help them get through crisis situations, to accept the most challenging parts of their lives, to respond rather than react to their emotions, and to ask for things and say no to things in a way that balances taking care of their relationships, while also honouring self-respect. Each session begins with a brief mindfulness exercise, followed by a review of how participants practiced skills during the week, and an interactive lesson to teach a new skill.
