Chrysalis L. Wright Ph.D.
Chrysalis L. Wright, Ph.D. is faculty in the psychology department at the University of Central Florida where she is involved with undergraduate research, the Honors College, and is director of the Media and Migration Research Lab. She has won several awards related to university teaching and research including the Distinguished Early Career Professional Contributions to Media Psychology and Technology award, the American Psychological Associations (APA) Achievement Award for Early Career Psychologists, the Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching award, and the Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion award.
Wright holds several leadership positions in her field, such as Membership and Governance Outreach Representative for the APA’s Committee on Early Career Psychologists, Secretary for APA’s Division 46 (Society for Media Psychology & Technology), and Chair of the APA’s Division 46 Task Force on the Sexualization of Popular Music.
Wright’s research interests center around media and technological influences on development and behavior. She also examines academic achievement among immigrant and international college student populations. Her two main areas of research have focused on fighting fake news and popular music media literacy. She has numerous published research articles and has given several presentations related to these topics, including serving on a panel for the Communications Coordination Committee for the United Nations on disinformation, stereotypes, and fake news and an APA Speaking of Psychology podcast on fake news.
